Lets put a Limit on the Leveling Speed to 85?

Understandable. Last I checked, World of Warcraft isn't going to land me in a hospital with breathing tubes shoved down my throat that would eventually lead to one of the most agonizing ways to die in 30-40 years.

To each their own, yes. But for the life of me I cannot figure out why people inhale that crap. Different people like different things ... some are just smarter than others when it comes to the things they enjoy to do.

The "Smarter" comment is a nice try. You look at the amount of time you "waste" playing video games over the course of your life and I'm sure it's comprable to the amount of time smoking will reduce the average persons life expectancy.

This is probably the most moronic statement I have ever read on any forum in my lifetime.

The result of my gaming "past time" will give me something new to do later on in life.
The result of smoking is death or a hell of a lot higher chance of it.

You choose the higher chance of death. I choose the higher chance of something else to do later in life.

Maybe someday you'll wake up and realize that gaming doesn't kill you, smoking does. To even think that they are comparable is ridiculous.

You mad bro?

Actually some of us have the rare character trait called "Self-Restraint." It's really not hard to maintain a balance between life and WoW in the same way that it's not hard to stop eating when you know you've had enough. We're not children, we don't need a built-in limiter, and if you are a child, you have a limiter: your parents and the parental controls built into the game.

I'm sick and tired of living in a country where everyone has to be spoon-fed and hand-held through life. WAKE UP! You are the most intelligent, capable, evolved ceature this planet has ever seen! Take hold of your life and be responsible! Stop drifiting and MAKE something happen with your life!

To the OP: You almost being held back in school is not a video games fault, and it, frankly, makes me ill to read that. You can restrain yourself when it comes to over-indulgence, you are just too lazy. No one is controlling you, or forcing you to play video games an obscene amount, you are just making poor decisions.

As to Zolaf's (usual) idiocy, people sueing McDonalds is exactly what I am talking about. It doesn't validate the OP's point. It is merely a symptom of a broken and sickening system failing miserably.

I am a busy person who works between 40-70 hours a week depending on the time of year. When the expansions are released over the winter is part of my down time where I only work 40 hours a week, this time I use after an expansion to power level when not at work so that way when I want to do something with my guild later I can. I don't let myself hurt my work, school, or social life. But when I end up getting a day off work and power level from 76-80 in one day because I have the time for once that is my right.
.

This solution is not just for my own personal issues.

As much as you all try to deny it, this would benefit you as well.

You just said that you work 40-70 hours a week and barely have any down time to relax and do what you want to do. I respect that, you are making money and you sound successful.

But do you really think you should be spending that small amount of free time you have glued to a computer screen grinding out multiple levels in one day?

You could be doing so much more. Taking a hike, camping, fishing, sledging, sking, enjoying nature with friends and family.

With this solution, you would get to level for a little while, but then you would be able to enjoy life.

Sometimes all we need is a helping hand.

First off, calm down everyone.

I'm sure as soon as you read the Thread Title you decided to come in here senselessly rage on me.

Just here me out. I'm sure you will come to agree with me if you take the time to listen.

I love WoW as much as the next guy, but I think the Developers should put in a Limit on how fast you can level to 85.

Why?

Because we all know that if there isn't a limit, everyone will be taking days off work, neglecting their children, neglecting their Girlfriends and Boyfriends, neglecting Family, Schoolwork, and doing very unhealthy things like drinking alot of Coffee or energy drinks.

This can and will cause many problems. Trust me, I know from experience.

I remember back when TBC came out, it caused me to nearly get held back a year in High School, and I almost had to join the Air Force due to loosing my Scholarship oppurtunites.

I'm sure you all have also done things you regret from trying to rush to the level cap from a WoW expansion release.

Okay, here's how this Levelling Speed Limit should be implemented:
You can only do 30,000,000 Damage per day. By my Calculations that should be .5 levels per day.

You may be asking, why limit it by Damage instead of by Levels?

The answer is simple, because that way you can still get small amounts of Experience from exploring the new Zones.

With this solution, everyone will be able to get to Level 85 at a safe, reasonable rate, while still enjoying the exploration and the new feel of the Expansion.

This solution also let's most people get to level 85 at around the same time so we can start the Arena Season on an even playing field.

You must be some sort of socialist, trying to FORCE people to do things your way.

This isn't china, if I want to play all day and night to reach 85 so be it. That is my choice.

Oh, I thought that was what conservatives did.

You are assuming that I am ignoring my friends and family for the sake of the game, in other words you are assuming that I am a fool. If I have something that I can do with friends I do it, family is harder to do since the only one that lives near me is my brother and we see enough of each other that it is isn't a big deal. If I am in the middle of a raid and a friend calls saying, "Hey man just found out about (this) at (the place), we're all going, you coming too?". I tell the raid that something came up and let them replace me.

The reason that I am in the guild I am is because we don't believe in letting the game run our lives. We have had people make a comment about the fact that they should be studying but they didn't want to leave and make us replace, so as a raid leader I kicked them out of the raid and we replaced anyway. We respect our guildies as people with lives not people to help make our gaming lives easier. Gaming is something you do when you don't have other things to do.

If people choose to make gaming their life that is their choice but not mine. Please don't act like you know anything about the way I run my life and tell me that you know how to "fix my problems" when you don't know enough about me to even know if I have one. I could tell you all the details about my life and I could probably make your head spin as to how someone with a full and complete life can also play WoW. However, I just don't feel like you have any right to know that much about me seeing as we have never met.

Instead of trying to push the issue into Blizzard, why not man up and take it on your own shoulders? YOU impose limits on YOURSELF, see if you're strong enough to stick to them.

WoW isn't the only thing that can cause people to neglect their real-life responsibilities. MANY addictions have similar effects. It's up to people to be responsible and think on their shoulders - if they choose to neglect more important things in life due to WoW, that's their problem to solve, not Blizzard's.

While I agree with you, don't you think society is moving away from the concept of taking responsibility for ones own actions? It seems people would rather blame anything they can over taking responsibility themselves nowadays...

People will blame a video game because their kid was too addicted to it to eat food to sustain themselves and DIED. (it happened, somewhere in Korea I think...)

Sometimes I worry about where society is going.

In a case like that it comes down to lazy and/or uneducated parents who don't know how to guide their children properly. Yes, the parents will most probably point the finger at Blizzard...but that's the equivalent of blaming a gun manufacturer because one of their guns was used to shoot someone. Lol.

True, but we see more and more of these scenarios every day where they actually gain some legal ground. This crap is starting to hold up in court. Remember the woman who became a mutli-millionaire because she spilled a cup of hot coffee from McDonalds on her lap?

Scary stuff, especially if you're a business owner. One day you're doing fine, the next you're bankrupt because some woman sued you because she tripped over a rock in the parking lot.

I'm probably going to sound a bit ugly here....but it has become a common saying that kind of stuff only happens in US. Apparently the law has so many loopholes in their loopholes, a lot of cases are just downright funny. I've studied a bit of law and it amazes me how some of those cases can even be taken seriously.
Other nations would have a more straightforward (and level-headed) approach to stuff like that.

I dislike it when people generalize stuff like "sometimes I worry about the society/culture/people/whatever etc etc" (making it sound like a global problem)....when the issue at hand is mostly isolated to North Americans >_>

I don't know where you live, but the damn snow is already coming.

There's no mountains around to ski on, only driveways to shovel. I suppose I could start up a crackling fire and curl up with a nice book and a hot latte spiked with some irish creme. But I think I'm going to dust off my druid with a hot latte spiked with some irish creme and kick ass to 85 non stop then check out some new heroic dungeons and maybe a Tol Barad game or two!

Look if you don't want to rush to level cap then don't.... why try and ruin the game for everyone else? I'm sorry you can't take the game in moderation... it's not the others players fault....

seriously... just play the game the way you want.. and don't interfer with everyone else while doing it...
