i am very dissapointed with how rogues have turned out.
recuperate went from being a nice addition to help with soloing and pug bg situations, to something that must be kept up 100% of the time for sub, and likely a high amount of time for the others.
despite losing vanish immune (one of my favorite mechanics in the game to use, even if it wasn't 'intended'), vanish DID get fixed, but none of the other deeper issues of the class were really addressed in my mind. sprint change aside, the class is still far too dependent on long CD abilities to maintain parity with the other classes in so many ways, trading 90-180 second CDs to counter 20-40 second CDs of the enemy. the margin for error with such a playstyle is extremely small, and really makes the class very frustrating for the majority of players while still retaining effectiveness in 3v3 arena.
perhaps most damning of all is the fact that prep was identified as being one of those 'too necessary' talents. instead of changing the ability somehow, making it baseline, or rebalancing mut and combat around not having it, it was simply removed with minimal compensation (sprint change).
my rogue was my third level 80 character, i am not currently planning on leveling him.
I find it very odd (after season 4 and before wotlk, argueably when rogues were the strongest they ever were in arena) when shadowstep got nerfed Blizzard said "we don't want classes to have both high mobility and high damage"
I'm not calling out any other classes, but this just simply doesn't make sense anymore in the current context of the game.
Sub is ok for pug bgs...ShS Ambush BS evis dead target...feels like level 60, and loses it steam once the stealth buffs expire and you are scrambling to get away because your damage is now loltastic. Its a 2 trick pony for damage (openers and dance) and has some nice escape tools.
Assass and combat are simply dead in the water with no prep. someone gets away from them, they are mostly likely to die themselves in a root. Its not very fun, and I wish a developer who actually has tried some pvp as assassination would come out and say something like "yeah you're right, kinda sucks".
Edit: very interested to see how rogues play out in arena at 85 (NOT rated bgs, arena!); their damage was awfully low in season 8 and Im assuming most are going sub, which is just plain horrible damage out of steath after a few seconds now with no ArP.
