Cataclysm Healing Priest Pre-Raid Gear Guide

Thought Id make a Holy Priest Gear discussion thread and most likely a list of our Pre-raid gear, enchants, and gems. I also made a list of possible craftables that could be of use as well.
In a nutshell in choosing gear based on your healing spec: Holy: 1. Get as much Intellect as you can through higher item level gear and gemming. 2. Make sure every item has Spirit as a secondary stat. 3. Get enough Haste to have 12.5% raid buffed, more only if you need the increased reaction time. (This is optional, if you feel fine without the haste, by all means get more mastery. 12.5% haste just means you get the 6th tick of renew, its up to you whether or not you think its worth it. With 5% raid buff and 3/3 darkness, you only need 516 haste With 5% and 2/3 darkness, it's 646 haste With 5% and 1/3 darkness, it's 779 haste With just 5% you need 915 haste If you're not planning on raiding with someone who has the 5% 3/3 darkness: 1181 haste 3/2 darkness: 1318 haste 1/3 darkness: 1458 haste) Note: Having more haste rating past these points isn't always a bad thing, at times in raids youll find yourself favoring haste over mastery and vice versa, every encounter is different in terms of healing needs. 4. Stack Mastery. 5. Avoid Crit, which has the worst conversion factors, and is devalued further by our talents to increase it. Discipline: 1. Get as much Intellect as you can through higher item level gear and gemming. 2. Make sure every item has Spirit as a secondary stat. 3. Since the changes to 4.0.6, critical strike rating and mastery are roughly of equal value, making them very attractive stats to prioritize as discipline. Critical = Mastery > Haste. I wasn't saying which was better than the other. This thread is simply a list of possible options one can pursue to get before raiding in Cataclysm. Also, my thread is alittle bit easier on the eyes. |

Yea, I was considering those myself too, but I don't know if losing the spirit was entirely worth it. As of right now spirit has a higher stat value than haste, crit, and mastery. |

They're easier to acquire and have more spirit then the current item listed. For people that don't want the spirit-less epic rep gloves. |

I think you're mistaken about haste when it comes to disc. 24% is the softcap for the GCD, and while we won't be all bubble-spam it plays a huge factor in tank healing.

Actually, you're wrong. With the change to divine aegis with prayer of healing, crit is much more valuable than haste. Haste still plays a factor, but you're better off balancing out your stats than focus on one more. Not to mention, tank damage will be more controlled, you wont need to worry about having so much haste.
