I'm really happy with how my raid went today in Blackrock Descent. While at the start we had mana issues before even getting Magmaw to 90%, we quickly adapted to bring all our AE effect heals into a large but condensed area.
It made Raid healing so much easier when you have a center project where 2 Eff's and a healing rain is hitting. Also, mana lasted MUCH longer.
Can't wait to see the rest of the instance.
I do well, I will continue to do well. This healing model is boring, Only the delusional believe they have choices in their spell use and think they are winning because of how well they are healing when it's simply a case of the players around you who are making the situation manageable.
I'm under no illusion unlike the vast majority of the people in here that think they are living because of them instead of despite them. You can sit here and stroke your ego in this thread all you want, I'm no slouch in what I have accomplished in this game and where in the pecking order I have accomplished it and I find it humorous the people in here acting like they have done something special.
Want to see how wonderful the healing is, Que with the LFD tool and not with the people you know are good and clear the heroics and then come back and talk.
I am in a causal raiding guild and we are just getting ready to hit heroics so I can in no way claim to be 'successful' healer in some peoples terms of already smashing through raids and one shotting raid bosses but...
I am loving the heck out of it. The challenge the teamwork, the real feeling of accomplishment that I have felt has been lacking since vanilla. I am having the time of my life. I got so bored with Wrath spam 'o matic healing runs that if Cata had not come along I would not have been spending much time on WoW at all.
Is it hard sometimes, you bet. Have there been a few wipes, you bet. So what's make one a successful healer... IMO it's learning from each new situation and mob encounter, re-evaluating your tactics and adjusting your play style to meet the challenge and working with your guild-mates to meet the on coming test of our abilities that raids will present.
I am sensing that a lot of the healers that are unhappy with the changes may also be from guilds that don't have much cohesion and they have to pug a lot to run an instance. I am fortunate to have a great group of guild-mates that love to run together attack each instance with a good set of skills, understanding and open attitude thus we never really pug as healers and tanks so we don't have to deal with the stress of how terribly wrong a pug can go. When we do pug in the occasional dps into our random runs they often want to stay and run with us for more, I would call that success too.
So yeah I am adding myself to the list here of healers who feel successful running Cata content.

Just cleared Heroic Deadmines with a pug from the LFD tool, took about 90 minutes, wiped 3 times to the foe reaper and twice to the vanessa van cleef event.
Was it smooth? Absolutely not, we wiped quite a bit to trash but everyone stayed to the end which was surprising. The tank died twice on trash as damage just felt incredibly spikey with those ogre packs before the first boss.
Based on what I saw, success lies partly with the skill of the healer and partly with the rest of the party actually knowing how to play. Before a group didn't even have to work together since a healer could basically heal through large amounts of stupidity and to me, that wasn't fun.
It felt good to clear that instance and not give up after the wipes and repairs.

This is some of it.
There are those who love to play with people, yet don't want to be dependent on those people.
Spellpower scaling is also a big part of it.
Well, I used to be a bubble-bot in Wotlk and enjoyed that (truthfully, it did get kinda old). Now I'm Holy and have no idea how I would manage to heal Disc in heroics, lol.
I will totally admit I have been blessed with tank and dps buddies to come along. We use vent, mark carefully, still wipe, look online @ strats and try to have a good time. I would be "ehh... no ty" at having to use the LFD to fill a whole group for heroics. I feel sorry for people who are stuck using that and end up with terribad people /pat :[
I've found that being a stickler for CDs has really helped on bosses. e.g., Hymn of Hope and Shadowfiend need to be off CD for all bosses pretty much. The only time I'm dead-dead OOM and we wipe is when others are failing at mitigating dmg or not doing enough dmg etc. If we all play smartly, I may run out of mana but itll so close to the end regen will get me through.
Now... if more people would click on Lightwell! :|
