Transmute: Living Elements Clarification

What's the word on the proc rates and proc values for this transmute?

for other single item transmutes, whenever an xmute procced, it gave you atleast double, (given that 1 more then 1 is well, atleast double)

living elements, has just procced an extra 6 volatile earth, (with the initial 14) and doesn't really seem to be a fair transmute option for transmute specialized alchemists, since truegold proc accounts for "atleast double" the output.

Can we expect that many transmute procs will continue to garner us very few extras in proportion to the amount initially used?

(yay for awkward questions)

Here's the quote from Nethaera (fell a few pages); hope it helps:

I wanted to hop in and clarify and confirm there was in fact a change that was implemented with the patch that unfortunately did not make the patch notes.

The change actually adjusted the return on the transmutes so that you weren't getting spikes in the amount of items you'd get from the transmute. Instead, if you transmute over a period of time, the amount of the transmute return should even out.

So basically if you transmute on a regular basis, you should see a more regular return on the transmute vs. a spike in large returns. Transmutation specialists will almost always get a PROC when transmuting living elements.

As of the last day there appears to have been a change in how this ability works. Previously my transmute master alchemist would get 2 stacks of volatiles when the proc went off. It happened fairly often, not regularly.

Now, instead of 2 stacks I get one stack and 4 of another (or, often, the same). Was that intentional change or is something not working right?

Nethaera made a post about it, but it slipped a few pages:

I guess I am confused. Being a transmute specialist is suppose to give you a chance to proc an additional "whatever". If the original transmute gives you 14-16 why wouldn't the proc give you another 14-16? I could see it being a problem if say you transmuted truegold and got like 10 on a proc then that would be excessive compared to the original transmute but getting only 3-4 additional volatiles seems to be quite unfair compared to the original transmute.

It just seems alchemist have gotten hosed this expansion with the proc rates. My elixir specialist made close to 100 elixirs/flasks one day and didn't get a single proc and the last time I got a proc it was X2 which is only one additional out of like 60 made. Compared to BC and LK expansions there has been a massive axe taken to the proc rates and amounts in Cata.

Depending upon your server, you're better off spending your xmute CD on truegold. More profit.

Hey! want to mention a thing or 2, I am in blacksmith and mining, i spend a lot of time to get to 350 in the 2 of them,
now i get xp'S EVERYTIME I MAKE SOMETHING OR DISCAVOR A NEW MATERIAL IN MINNING, SO I AM BEHIND MY QUEST ( 3 LEVEL) DOWN,,, SO WHY DO wow PUNISH US WITH LESS xp'S WHEN WE ARE DOING QUESTS(-90%), U SHOULD BE KIPPING TRADEMAN IN MIND AND GIVE THEM A BREAK REGARDING THE XP' ON QUEST, THESE PEOPLE THAT PUT TIME ON THEIRE PROFESSIONS SHOULD BE REWARDED NOT PUTNISH.
I HOPE U WILL KEEP THIS IN MIND AND GIVE US (+10% ON BEAST OR MUNSTORS) WHEN ADVENCING IN OUR TRADES. IT TAKE A LOT OF TIME.
SEE YA'

The original transmute is determined by zone, the proc is random.

I always transmute in Uldum since I found out about the airs there. Life go for ~6g a piece on our AH, with airs anywhere from 20-30g a piece. Profit is awesome

I have a question reguarding why the old lich king gem transmutes share the same cool downs as the living element and pyrium and truegold transmute? Was this intentional or was it an overlooked side effect. With almost all previous expansions when the new one came out all the old transmutes that in some cases had not only a zone required but also a cool down had the zone and cool down removed why was this not done with the lich king gem transmutes?

I have 2 maxed transmute spec'd alchemists and i can tell you that you will NOT always get bonus volitiles - in fact, i consider myself lucky to get 14 of whatever out of the 15 volitile life!
I knew about the varius zones giving certain specific volitlies & i mostly end up short.
I have also transmuted over 40 truegold now & not once did i get even 1 extra.
