Lots of DPS mad at healers so far, especially with some healers claiming they won't heal dps that is taking damage (thats just silly). Anyway, here are 3 quick points so you see the healer side of things.
1) We can heal AoE and unavoidable damage. Not a problem really. But we watch meters and KNOW when someone is getting hit by stuff they aren't supposed to. Don't die to fire and act like a raid wide AoE killed you, it didn't.
2) Due to the new way that fast healing spells are inefficient, the following is true.
- Tank heals cost little mana.
- Occasional AoE heals cost little mana.
- Healing a single dps who got hit by something stupid costs us one third of the mana bar. I'm not exaggerating.
3) Every single time we heal a DPS who stood in fire for a second, we lose enough mana for about 20 seconds worth of tank heals. Again, that's just how the new healing system works.
So yea, if you see yourself standing in fire, realize you just cost the raid about 15 seconds worth of DPS on the boss. Instead of the healer having enough mana to last 3 minutes, now the party is going to wipe at 2:45. Stand in fire once more and the total time you can DPS is now down to 2:30 before we all wipe.
yeah I noticed that, especially on the star things in the vortex that shoot out things with the same animation as arcane blast.
Btw anyone know how to avoid that damage or do you just kill them?

Is anyone else happy there there is a flood of these threads (it's not just the DD forums)?
You can no longer run into an instance and blow it up with your face. People have to attempt to think or fear a wipe if they don't.
I think it's very good times.
Then it's our fault (the healer's that is), because that's how the encounter is designed.
They key word being avoidable. If the damage can be interrupted, moved out of, etc. then of course it is not avoidable and is the player's responsibility to negate it.
Can't use that in combat.[/quote]
My bad....that is dumb. Anyways if you did everything you can to prevent your death and you then die to unavoidable damage the it is probably the healer fault.
What about when dps dies to unavoidable damage?
#1 Ask the healer why they were too busy healing the idiot that was taking avoidable damage and then trying to catch up on the tank.
#2 Or ask the healer why they went OOM (hint: see #1)
#3 Or ask the DPS why they were so low (hint, THEY were the idiot in #1)
#4 Or ask the DPS why they didn't use one of their abilities to get their health up.
(Druids, Priests, Paladins and Shaman can all use a heal, quit complaining about it and do it if it means you stay alive. dead = 0 dps. Rogues warriors, and who else have some new self-heals?)
#5 Or ask the healer to pay attention.
Note, in 3 scenarios the healer could be at fault for playing poorly. Making #4 happen counts.
But in 4 scenarios the DPS are as much or more to blame.
This new system decided that "only have fun if you are an adrenaline junkie that likes stress." should be the new model. Let's try and keep those healers that aren't insane or like pain from rolling DPS, shall we?

People are still learning the encounters. Sometimes standing in fire happens or being in the wrong place at the wrong time happens. If it continues to be a problem, remove them from your group.
I feel for you healers as I can see the stress you guys are being put under with the new healing mechanics. Keep your heads up, it will get better. :)
DPS, use your self heals, the healer will notice, and will be eternally grateful.
I'm Holy main/Ret off, and was DPSing H HoO last night (I actually like the 40 minute DPS queues. Gotta finish quests/exploration somehow...) and I hardly got a chance to use TV ever cause the healer was a little undergeared, but mostly cause the other two DPS did nothing to mitigate or avoid incoming damage. Like just standing there while the Shadowlancers did there GODD*MNED exploding thing. So I was WoGing like I was still specc'd Holy, even backing out to throw a DL a few times.
This epeen flexing lock decides to start ragging on my DPS (which, at 5k, was admittably low), and the healer went straight mother-bear on his a*s. I mean he lost it. Long story short, you want healer friends, do what you can to help. This is a really, really, tough time for healers.
There's a big puffy white cloud/mist in the middle of them you stand in, makes a world of difference, :).
Is there? We just noticed that they take a second to "arm" so we've had everyone run at the same time and start blowing them up and the damage was much more manageable. I wonder if we were standing in a cloud too.
i feel ya dude. i've dropped shadowform for heals/hymns more times in the past week than i have all last expansion. to be honest, it feels kinda good.
