A nerf is one thing, a stealth nerf is entirely another.

Agreed. It's rather unprofessional.

That yes I agree was a very low blow, especially to those who logged in and began healing completely unaware of that change >.<

I'm more peeved about the LoD change. It was OP because 50% of heals were transfering to the beacon, thus healing the tank for a huge chunk. All Blizzard needed to do was remove the transfer effect and it would of been fine.

What you're missing is the fact that Blizzard stated themselves that this transfer is infact intentional by design - not something that was being ommited and was to be fixed as we initially thought. With that in mind, now you can start seeing why LoD got a nerf, because it is intended to be used smartly.

I always secretly wanted to be a Holy Paladin only to stack intellect but I refused because Beacon of Light is brainless/free healing.

Beacon isn't brainless, not today it isn't, people may be but the skill is actually very smart now ;)

Noone tells you that Beacon is only meant for the tank! Be smart about it friend - it's called Beacon Juggling. I'll explain.

As already noted many times before, Beacon transfers 50% of healing done - ANY direct healing done to be exact - to the target it's on. Also, healing Beaconed target with Flash of Light and Divine Light generates Holy Power.

All you need is Glyph of Beacon of Light which reduces it's cost to 0.

Tank at 50% hp everyone else at 70% up - 3Holy Power charges, line yourself to get as many people as possible in it's cone (it's not that hard, it has 30 yard range after all!) and LoD the team, everyone else gets few thousand hp back, tank get's a good lump sum. That's a cookie cutter scenario, ezy pzy.

Now...

Tank at 70% taking moderate damage without spikes, you are on 1 Holy Power charge need 2 more for LoD, one dps is badly damaged at 30% other at 50%. You can:
-holy shock the one at 30% to buy some time, +1 Holy Power
-shift the beacon on the one at 50% than Divine Light him, there you go, 3 Holy Power charges
-shift the beacon again on the one at 30% and LoD the team, everyone gets some HP back, target of the beacon get's spiked back up to 60%+
-again shift the beacon accordingly as per needs of the given situation
-proceed

Healing with beacon doesn't have to be either brainless, flawed, monotonious or one-track minded, it's actually very powerful tool, most people just either can't be bothered to try to use it that way, or still hasn't figured out its full potential ;)

If you give us dual wield shields then we might just forget these nerfs.

The paladin was working as intended and Blizzard should get out of the nerf mentality. Stop nerfing players and find a way to buff other classes. Buffs for everyone imo.

I'm happy with how healing looks like, buffing everyone will just put us back into no-brainer easy-mode WoTLK healing all over again. Besides, we didn't get nerfed for no reason, we were actually doing more than other healeres (as paladin healers) and we're more in line with where others are.

Pls update the description correctly for all skills in talent tree, it is very confusing now.

Right now other healers are calling for another nerf to Holy Pally. Same ol same ol….

Not just Holy; people always want Paladins nerfed. I still see "nerf Retribution" posts all the time, and Ret hasn't been good since Ulduar was new. Just an easy class to hate, I guess.

i have a shammy that just turned 82 and i out heal him and he doesnt have half the gear of my pally. b4 lat patch i lost 14% crit unbuffed was 48 and now cata i have 16% crit. large mana issue and a big problem with haste. i respeced and reforged stacking haste and spirit. i had hurricane to help out with haste but it wouldnt trigger. i use judgement to get the hatse but it shows .7 for a single cast but still takes 2 sec for a cast mechanics r still not correct. i have opened up tickets since b4 patch and no reply and problem is still there. tried to delete addons etc no change. beacon now heals for 50% less which sucks np with the nerf but now pallies r unbalanced and yet to c any improvements. i hate this b/c i use to love healing with my pally and was very good at it but now rather play on my shammy. arbiter of light still doesnt work for me. with no help and no clues to any change

I would like to see the nerf to Holy Light and Beacon reversed. I'm a tank healer, I'm supposed to have more mana resources, and less group utility = Single target tank healer.

I'm ok with the nerf to Light of Day

I'd like to have a different Holy Radiance mechanic. One that doesn't heal at all. Instead, I'd like for Radiance to:

Increase healing received by any friendly unit affected by one of the Paladin's Auras by X%.

Raid healing isn't my gig. It's nice to have LoD to help touch up the melee who happen to be around me in the fire, or to touch up the group in a random, that's about it. Other than that, please instead let me help the raid healers out. Others want us nerfed or themselves buffed, well there's my idea of a compromise. Give me back Holy Light genning Holy power and put me back into my place as tank healer.

I crawled out of my niche, looked around, nobody wanted me there in Raid Healer land. Not even me.

Thanks

You best be trollin'. It's been thoroughly stated that Blizzard wants to pull us out of the mindset of "tank healer" and "raid healer" roles and move us towards the ability to do both for all healers. Paladins are one of the strongest utility healers currently. If the groups you're running with don't realize that, find a new group.

Blizzards new vision is somewhat homogenized healing for all of us.

Not commenting on it or saying how successful or unsuccessful that is or will turn out to be down the road, just stating their vision, to make any of us more or less capable of filling each others shoes when needed.

Us ourselves, just as other classes do, view paladins as single target specialists with designation to tank healing... but we're not longer just that in Blizzards books.

i would just like to say i'm loving healing right now post nerf. i have a long priority list of what heals to use and after raid i find that i have like 7 heals 10-20%. instead of the holy light spam of wrath. i am having ton of fun doing it post 4.0 wrath was just annoying to heal but i'm glad that it works at 85. keep up the good work.

Mana is supposed to matter for healers

Mana should matter but designing characters to go oom in all fights is not complex, it is simply difficult, there is a difference. Making heals heals less and cost more is not a very creative game mechanic, it's the simple way out. You haven't made healing more interesting and complex you've made it not fun and stressful.

Step 1: Beacon tank.

Step 2: Use the appropriate heal for the amount of health lost. (Wait till about 86% health and use a Divine Light, Holy Light for about 91-94%, use Holy Shock at 91-94% also.)

Step 3: Learn how to keep a tank up through hard damage. (Depending on CD's, Holy Shock Divine Lightx2, Word of Glory. Always use Holy Shock when it is available in your Divine Light/Word of Glory Rotation.) This rotation will allow you retain enough Holy Power to use Word of Glory and not run out of mana during the encounter.

Step 4: If a party or raid member is close to death and there isn't enough time for a Divine Light you can 1.Holy Shock and then Holy Light. 2.Use your Word of Glory (Assuming you have holy power). 3. Cast a Flash of Light.

Step 5: Know when the damage is going to come. Not everyone needs to be topped off 100% of the time. If you know that they won't be taking any damage, there is no need to top their HP off.

Step 6: Use your mana regeneration CD's at the appropriate times. If it is going to be a long fight, try using Divine Plea more than once during the fight, not only when you are scrounging for mana.

All in all, Paladins are not any worse off than they were before. All you need is to use the correct spells for the correct situations and your mana pool should be fine.

Assuming that your party members aren't standing in the fire.....

They can't change tooltips without a client patch.
