High-Powered Bolt Gun usable in Rateds

That person using that gun must feel really desperate for an interupt and some damage.
The cost of mats dont justify me wanting to use the eng item at all. |
The mats are bearly 1k gold at the moment, and having that to use in arena is amazing. I'd love to have it, but I've been bitten by Engineering twice before, I had it on both my other characters, then belt got nerfed, then boots, like 3 times. I don't really trust Blizzard on this. |
So? With haste where it is you can still use a reticule and interrupt a cast. Iron grenades used to be used to interrupt casts all the time and good warlocks sill can manage to interrupt with shadowfury. The only real drawback I see is it vomits money, about 20g a shot at current prices. That price will go down as obsidium demand drops though. To answer the OP's question: it'll only get nerfed if it becomes popular. |

Anyone who thinks Engineering won't get nerfed is fooling themselves. Not only has it been nerfed in every expansion, but its quickly becoming what JC was in Wrath - mandatory.

I thought they fixed that?

That'd be very interesting given that the bolt gun is the only gadget usable in PvP content that matters. And that the rocket boots aren't usable in raids because of the chance to either blow yourself up or blow yourself sky high. So yeah... how is it becoming mandatory when its utility toys are near worthless in content that actually matters? I'd love to hear you explain this one, o mighty troll. |

edit: I've scrapped the quote since they are so horribly broken...
To Packratt: I've been an engineer since late TBC, and have experienced my boots malfunctioning once... running back to HLK in ICC. Then again, Murphy can be a jerk sometimes. And using 1 example as a premise for an argument when there are many more examples that defeat your point (tinkers, and realizing things like the bolt gun can be used in PvE as well), doesn't really make a strong case. Also, just because you disagree with someone doesn't mean they're a troll. |

Wait, someone has an opinion that differs then mine? They must be trolling!

Since we're whipping out credentials I've been using engineering on my toons since vanilla, back when iron grenades and rocket helms were in every good player's bag. I've used nitro boost 6 times on this toon since the expansion hit (I remember having to move it to my belt from my boots). 4 of those 6 were failures prompting me to quit using it altogether. I know, the sample size is too small to be sure of anything but I'm pretty sure the failure rate has been increased either flatly or on characters post 80. It used to be very reliable but it seems to be junk now. Engineering is in bad shape compared to other professions unless they make the cogwheel "sockets" similar to belt buckles but with engineering only restrictions rather than integral to engineering helms. Edit~ The people responsible for the forum swap should have left the new forum in beta longer, the quote and edit system is broken. Giant spacing randomly inserted, quote tags that break without user errors and no ability to delete your own posts. It's not what I've come to expect from Blizzard products. |

edit: I've scrapped the quote since they are so horribly broken... Just in case you didn't know, rocket boots can now malfunction in raids which used to be impossible. Some seem to think there is an increased chance for them to backfire, but I'm not sure if it's been proven. The boots can now either send you up into the air like before, but they also added a backfire that puts a massively damaging "rocket fuel leak" dot on you. |
