Was the arms race a lie all along?

Blizz stated they wanted to avoid an arms race, but the complete opposite happened. You introduced abilities which strictly went against this new planning.

Mobility & control. Some classes got more of it, which was not necessary.

The problem arises when you give classes strong mobility on there own, then when backed by a healer they become un-peelable (warriors & feral druids are on the extreme).

This creates a one-sided imbalance, in which casters are basically forced to tank because all of a casters snares & roots are completely dispellable, which the same cannot be made for melee snares.


the "cause & effect" of this arms race is no more evident than in frost mages, who no longer bother to sit and cast abilities (what a caster is suppose to do), its all instant icelance spam & wait for deepfreeze.

This is not because of gap openers and closers specifically.

Haste levels are much lower and blizzard went to great lengths to make some casts longer.

what they did was destroy caster pvp by raising melee uptime to 100% without a dispeller on everyone except a frost mage, introduce 6-7 new and exciting ways to stop casting while gutting caster CC (70% increased cast time on top of cast speed increase debuff is totally awesome broskis) and removing any viable dispel protection (sin and punishment LOL)

Yet Warlocks, Mages and Ele Shaman are still doing fine in arena. Stop acting like there are more melee imbalances then there are caster imbalances.

Melee uptime is a knifes edge thing to balance. Too low and melee will be useless, when out of range most melee except DKs can do absolutely zero damage. Too high and casters take too much damage, however, casters are still capable of dealing damage when melee are in melee range, especially now when classes like Mages have moved to Ice Lance as their main attack.

Some mallee have too much mobility. Some are fine. Some need more. But mages having too much control over mallee is making all other casters suffer.

Mages need to be disarmed so that some mallee can also be disarmed.

Edit: actually I would argue, the only class that isnt good with mobility atm is ret. And they dont need a gap closer or such, but justice needs to slow them to 60%ish run speed not 100%, wat a joke.

Where as warriors are clearly overpowered in the mobility area. 100% uptime compaired with 15-20% as ret, 0% on a mage.

hey look, you managed to avoid the fact melee uptime is retarded even without dispellers and it's making all ranged dps literally useless besides mages and warlocks.
