Can staves stop being inherently worse?

I was pleased when I compared stats between 1h/oh and staves of equal ilevel to find that the stats were in complete parity, thanks to Int being an actual useful stat now. But then I remembered that there's a new 100 int offhand enchant, and there is no improved staff enchant, which means that no matter what every mh/oh combination will be 100 int better than equal ilevel staff.

It was annoying that staves were wasted loot in all of Wrath and it's annoying that they're wasted loot now. Can this be fixed somehow?

Staves still give a higher sum of off-stats like Stam, Haste, Crit, etc.

You have to understand that a staff is 1 item, it can be obtained in one go. But a good MH+OH combo will always be harder to obtain than a single staff, there is more work/money required.

That's why MH+OH will ALWAYS give more Int than a staff, that's the basis of it. But it doesn't mean staves are worthless.....we're in an expansion where gear (especially epics) are quite difficult to come by, grab what you can.

That may work in PvE, Stupefy, but in PvP the staff costs just as much as the MH/OH except you're now down 100 intellect if you pick it.

Comparing stat for stat between a staff and a MH+OH, the stats are almost identical. As soon as you add in the OH enchant, and the staff ends up being inferior by around 100 intellect.

It doesn't matter that you need 2 items instead of 1, there shouldn't be such a large disadvantage. With the next legendary being a staff, it could very much end up being replaced by the next tier because of this.

Very doubtful considering the proc is usually what makes the legendary. The stats of the healing legendary became outdated pretty quick but the proc made it remain BiS for some healers through ICC.

It'll be hard to say until we see the proc. Val'anyr's proc scaled, and it was nearly outclassed by Heroic Trauma for some specs.

Then in PvP, don't use the staff.
