Make it happen.

With all the snares and roots being thrown around melee classes (asides from feral druids) are having a very tough time staying on top of people long enough to do damage. Everyone has plentiful amount of cc and snares available on very short cooldowns now and the 2 minute cooldown just seems so outdated now. Change it to a 1 min cooldown so people can break a cc once per fight kind of thing because right now it's impossible to stay on top of frost mages and resto druids etc. with all the nova's and stuns and stuff going off all the time.

Thoughts?

A ton of 1 and 2 minute and other short cd CC effects are balanced around the fact that they can be used once per min (in the case of 1 min cds) to force a trinket and then the second time to put in a kill attempt.

The 2 min cds are balanced around having the same cd as a trinket.

If you suddenly halve the cd of the cc breaker you need to halve the cd of many different short cd CC's like hungering cold, blind, hex.


I really don't think doing either is a good idea.

Mages have enough CC that even spamming dispel won't save you.

This thread should be titled "Frost Mages have too many snares" then. They're the outliers.

Earthbind and all that other junk has a considerable cooldown. They can't even consider the OP's suggestion without nerfing dispels so that non frost mages actually can peel melee off themselves.

(nerf mages control too :D)

Primiez, while that might be true, it doesn't mean that

A) pvp trinket cd's are the problem.

or that

B) lowering those cds will solve anything.


What your post basically says is, yeah, mages are OP as all hell.

The fix for that has nothing to do with pvp trinkets and everything to do with nerfing ferals and mages.


For starters, neither resto nor feral should be able to use the glyph of instant roots or nature's grasp. Both of those should be only usable by balance druids.

Then there's mages.................... the best part about frostmages is that you can nerf control, nerf icelance / buff frostbolt, and it won't nerf them in raid pve.

it will nerf them too much. like i told lhiv, you can't have your cake and eat it too. some changes will be needed so frost pve can keep ice lance in the rotation. when you buff frostbolt it makes frostbolt always better to cast than ice lance.

the problem isn't with ice lances, the problem is with too many ways to make ice lance hit hard. Shattered barrier on DR with Imp CoC would help control this.

if you nerf control, ice lance damage, and buff frostbolt (which already hits harder than ice lance on shatters) you gut the spec entirely.

however im not opposed to a 1 minute CD trinket. so many classes now have many 1 minute CDs and when combined with other classes with 1 minute CDs, it makes for too many abilities used when the trinket is 2 minutes. there are sooo many more ways to force trinkets in pvp than there have ever been.

actually yeah it does. if you are in arenas and don't dispel because you think it is useless, you are just gimping yourself.
