Hi, i have recently just purchased game time and the new expansion cataclysm and when i inserted the game with my account activated and upgraded i began to download but it stops every time at 2% on "WOW_Intro_800.avi"... part of patch 4.0.0.12911. It the just stays there and then gives me this message

The installer was unable to read the file "/Applications/World of Warcraft/Data/enUS/Interface/Cinematics/WOW_Intro_1024.avi". This error may be caused by problems with the media or drive at <unknown> --for example, a scratched or dirty CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, hard drive corruption, or a networking problem while downloading the installer. (The error code was 105.) If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (ReadJob::Execute)

Please, help.... my game time is running down =p

I am experiencing this exact same problem attempting to use the installer downloaded from the battle.net control panel. I do not believe this to be a firewall issue due to the fact that I have been able to use the Windows client with no issue from the same network. I would give system specifications but I am unsure how to find them on a Mac, I hate this computer.

If you've got the game fully updated, then you have everything you need installed to play. The installers on the discs are out-dated and incompatible with the one from the website. This will result in the installer quitting unexpectedly.

If you're still unable to access the advanced content, please visit http://www.battle.net/account and upgrade your account with the Authentication Key included in your retail package.

This error is occuring when attempting to use the installer downloaded from the website not one from any set of disks.

(edit): also this is not an issue of accessing advanced content but rather of getting the game working in any way shape or form.

Error 105's are caused by damaged files, broken permissions, or bad directory structure. I would suggest deleting any files you already downloaded for it and empty the trash, and then perform some basic system maintenance prior to doing another attempt.

Please use the steps below to repair file permission settings on the hard drive.
    1. Navigate to /Applications/Utilities/ and open Disk Utility
    2. Select the hard drive the game is installed on
    3. Select the First Aid option
    4. Click on the Repair Disk Permissions button

And then:

Repair Directory Procedure:

1. Start from your Mac OS X Install disc: Insert the installation disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
**Always start up your computer from an Install or Restore disc when using Disk Utility to verify or repair your startup volume. Otherwise, you might see some disk error messages.**

Also, check to make sure that you have a Shared folder in Mac HD/Users/. If you don't go ahead and create one.

One more thing, if you are wireless, try doing a direct connection to the modem and starting it again.

Sorry for the wall o' text but these are generally what fixes error 105's.

If after following TonyM's advice you still get the error, wipe everything (after backing up your addons and WTF folders so you don't lose your keybinds if present already) and install from the DVD but only to the point at which the DVD install stops. After that you must use the Launcher, but follow these steps in between each update if the Launcher gets stuck:

1) Delete the wow.mfil and wow.tfil files in the main World of Warcraft directory.

2) Delete the launcher.wtf file in your WTF folder.

3) Restart the Launcher. At no point are you to launch WoW's app directly.

Using this method, you should be able to install the game normally, albeit in a time consuming manner - it does have to download nearly 8 GB of data after all. The cinematics are downloaded on demand if using the battle.net installer option. When using the DVD to install, the movies should already be installed. If not, they can be copied over manually so the Launcher doesn't try to download them while in-game.
