Steady Hand - Closed for business, but happy!

Hi All,
Just figured I would post it here to (hopefully) cut down on all the whispers I have been getting... hopefully this will let anyone who wants to know what happened to Steady Hand. First- Let me say to the Rexxar community- Thank you all for your unwavering support of the guild over the past 3 years. Everyone has been really helpful/supportive during our run. Second- to every member/former member or friend, Thanks to you we made Steady Hand a respected (mostly) guild by our actions... to be mostly drama free for over 3 years is amazing. I am really proud to have been an officer and to have had the joy of playing with you in PuGs or in guild... Now on to what happened for those that want to know: For about the past month we've had rising tensions, infighting and issues with some members not getting what THEY want out of the guild... the officers got together and discussed... at LENGTH... what to do several times. We REALLY didn't want the people to eventually implode and destroy friendships (Like some guilds have) so we felt the best thing we could do was to simply end it. We took about a month to fully decide (going back and forth) and during that time we watched the guild erode even more- no matter how we tried to recruit, or inspire... nothing really worked. It seemed the best thing we could do for the guild was just to end it- otherwise people would stay out of friendship...and get more frustrated. I've always thought friends outlast a guild tag. We called the officers together and discussed one last time, and it was unanimous... so on Sunday the 23rd we got everyone who was on and announced it. We felt it was best to "pull the band aid off quick" and just remove everyone and go from there. Most of us ended up joining to Dead by Dawn- same basic progression- mostly friends of ours anyway, and same 'Dbad' attitude... but I stepped down as an officer, I doled out the guild bank fairly to the other officers and made sure everyone who wanted one got their heirloom cloak(s). (We were lvl 12 guild so why not get the rewards!) It actually went very well- no freakouts and everyone understood why we made the decision. Probably because they had all spoke to officers separately at some point anyway ...HA! Anyway, it was a great, no-drama ending to a great no-drama guild... So if you're curious...that's it- no huge drama, no implosion, no crazy GM, no hackers... just friends who saw a way to solve a problem before it became any of the former... From a personal point we weren't going to post about it but I seem to have to type it out a lot when I do log in... so here's hoping that this post explains it. I am looking forward to playing with friends and raiding and such- so besides a guild tag, really not much has changed except people are no longer risking getting frustrated within the guild... so in my view- that's a win! -if anyone wants to know any more, feel free to /w me when I'm on... we got no secrets. and hey- we still PuG and stuff! Thanks Rexxar - Stay Classy. |

Sad news to wake up to. <Steady Hand> was a guild that handled everything they did with class even in disbanding. Revort you've done a great job running SH and im glad to hear that most of y'all are staying on server. You know the drill, you guys holler if you need anything.

Sadly once that old snowball of guild discontent starts rolling, its pretty hard to stop.
Sounds like you guys made the best possible choice with lots of thought. Luck to you all. |
