Topic (Sticky) PvP Mage Macros- Suggestions add your own.
Yes, it's an all-in-one pet macro, but I really haven't had any trouble with this one. Hit the button (in my binds, it's E) to have the pet attack and begin to cast Freeze, hit the button plus Shift and the pet stops attacking. If you don't have a pet, hit Shift and the button and you summon one! I'll probably take out the last [mod:shift] since it's not really needed with the /stopmacro, but that's as is from my screen.
Aside from that, I like this list.
Props for awesome thread.
here's one i put together to manage my AOE, it casts blast wave normally, shift-click for flamestrike, ctrl-click for ring of frost:
/cast [btn:1,nomodifier] Blast Wave
/cast [btn:2][mod:shift] Flamestrike
/cast [btn:3][mod:ctrl] Ring of Frost
A bunch of useful ones on http://www.wowwiki.com/Useful_macros_for_mages if you sort through the outdated stuff.

Below is a sheeping macro I developed myself for PVE, though it should work fine for PVP as well. It focuses and sheeps your target, instantly clears the focus when the target dies or does not exist, and allows you to instantly refocus and sheep a new target in one click using the shift button as a modifier:
/cast [target=focus] polymorph
You can of course change the Polymorph command to Polymorph(Turtle) or wichever is your favorite. You can even use the castrandom version and fit as many different CCs as the 255 character limit will allow.
Also, the above macro can be used for both spellsteal and counterspell. Simply swap out 'Polymorph' for the new spell you wish to use this macro for.
Edit: changed macro to get rid of code fluff. Now is condensed to allow for more character room.
Cosmetic Random Polymorph -Antbriwes
I am having problems incorporating that one with my current macro
/cast [target=mouseover,harm] Polymorph(Turtle); Polymorph(Turtle)
My macro makes mouseover my priority target and sheeps mouseover target if no mouseover it sheeps my current target and all the while makes my pet follow me.
I wanna incorporate the random sheep effect with that ... plz help
Cosmetic Random Polymorph -Antbriwes
You'd just make it the following:
/castrandom [target=mouseover,harm] Polymorph, Polymorph(Pig), Polymorph(Rabbit), Polymorph(Turtle), Polymorph(Black Cat); Polymorph, Polymorph(Pig), Polymorph(Rabbit), Polymorph(Turtle), Polymorph(Black Cat)
That's assuming it doesn't go over the 255 character limit, but I'm pretty sure that should be under it.
addon: yay mounts
/cast arcane power
/cast presence of mind
/use talisman of ephemeral power
#showtooltip Ice Lance
/cast [target=mouseover, harm, nodead] Ice Lance; Ice Lance
i'd post my cs/ss/poly macros but they look a little archaic... will have to work on those.
cs target, focus if shift
poly focus, target if no focus & sets focus to target, force poly&focus target if shift.
#showtooltip [target=focus,harm] Polymorph
/cancelaura ice block
/cast [target=focus] Polymorph
ss target, focus if shift.
cancelaura iceblock, stopcasting iceblock.
Dunno what I'd do without the poly one.

Im not very good with the whole macro thing, can someone show me the macro that will CS the target w/ no modifier, or CS the focused with modifier(CTRL)
Edit: Messed around with it a bit and figured it out
/cast [harm] [target=targettarget] Frostbolt
If you are targeting an enemy, cast Frostbolt on them. If you are targeting a friendly, cast Frostbolt on their target.
Very handy in BG's and you want to focus-fire. Also handy in the heat of battle and you accidentally target a friendly instead of the enemy.
My macros include:
/stopcasting infront of most of my critical spells such as iceblock or blink
nothing irritates me more than having to ice block or blink when im casting and i can't because im casting.
Also add /cancelaura Ice Block infront of cs for those quick get out of iceblock and cs a heal times
The typical pet macro
#showtooltip Summon Water Elemental
/cast [nopet] Summon Water Elemental; Freeze
/stopmacro [target=pet, nodead]
gloves + frostfire for more burst
#showtooltip Frostfire Bolt
/cast Frostfire Bolt
#showtooltip Deep Freeze
/cast [target=focus] Deep Freeze
ice veins +frostbolt macro so its cleaner to start dps asap
#showtooltip Icy Veins
/cast Icy Veins
Those that don't use gladius can also use
/cast Arcane Power
/cast Mana Gem
/cast Mirror Images
At least, I think that's how you do it.
