as of 4.0.6 crusader strike isnt giving holy power if its dodged/parried/or misses,it was doing this on the ptr of this patch and now its live, alot of people think its a bug because this wasnt mentioned as a change in any of the ptr builds.

this has pretty big implications for all specs of paladins,prot/holy/ret.

can we get clarification on wether or not this is a bug or is intended?

Seeing as they programmed it to generate HoPo regardless of whether CS landed I can only assume that this is deliberate.

And it is a pretty terrible idea. Ret is already HoPo starved with 4.0.6 removing a HoPo source. This will only make things worse.

The stinking bug/undocumented change definitely made it live. Argaloth and Maloriak, among other things, are going to suck even more now. I really feel sorry for Prot pallies.

It's not like DK's lose a rune when they have one of their abilities dodged/parried/miss...

Even without the CS change we are generating less HoPo than in 4.0.3. And even in 4.0.3 we were HoPo starved. Making us even more so with the CS change on top of other HoPo decrease in 4.0.6 is possibly going too far.

Horrible horrible bug. Going to royally screw Prot, Ret not so much since its easy for them to get hit/exp capped.

Not really reasonable to knock parry off the table, however.

This was a bug. A note for this has been added under the Paladin Bug Fixes section here: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/2166872

Missing attacks should not generate Holy Power. We generally don’t reward characters for failing to land attacks. Retribution paladins can improve their hit or expertise like other melee DPS specs do. Tanks don’t generally stack a lot of hit or expertise, but we think Protection paladins will still be able to tank just fine. Prot warriors for example miss Shield Slams.

Prot Warriors also don't have a significant part of their self-healing/mitigation effected by not being Hit/Expertise capped, why are Paladins the double standard to this?

What about in PvP, Zarhym, where classes like rogues can dodge every one with good luck?

Ret has no way to generate it.

That sounds fair to me. Nice.

Okay, don't reward us, but how about not punishing us either?

It's interesting you consider it a bug now, but during beta Ghostcrawler specifically said it was a bug that CS was NOT generating holy power on misses, so they changed it. Essentially, you are reintroducing the original bug, and labeling it a bugfix.

Not sure what you consider to be a "reward" since they still lose the damage, but off the top of my head:

Rogues get their energy refunded when attacks are dodged/parried.
Warriors get rage off dodged/parried attacks
DKs get runes refunded off dodged/parried attacks.
Rogues don't lose combo points when finishes are dodged/parried (i think).

I'm mainly thinking about dodged/parried attacks, missed attacks don't give anything and imo should not.

I can see having it not generate HP from misses because that's something you can basically guarantee to be removed from the hit table, but not having it generate a HP on a dodge/parry is pretty brutal since it's impossible (basically) to remove parry (in PvE) and in PvP you NEVER are able to hit dodge or parry cap.
