Arcane Hotfixes

As previously discussed ( http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2065568025 ) we're currently planning to put out a couple hotfixes specifically for Arcane mages. Likely today.

  • Arcane Blast base mana cost from 7% to 5%.

However, with the above change in mind we are also going to nerf the Shard of Woe trinket to halve the mana savings for Arcane spells only. It's still a fantastic trinket for Arcane mages even with the reduction.

It seems like this only reinforces AB spamming as the only option for an Arcane Mage.

Happy to see more being done! Wish you guys would just buff the base damage on AB's already as we all know that's the real issue, but anything is better than nothing at this point.

As for the shard...Most of us will not be seeing that anytime soon anyway.

You're welcome.

Nobody is going to use arcane still but thanks for at least something. (The thanks is not sarcasm, but we all know this won't be nearly enough to make arcane viable in pve).

Wish you guys would know what we already do.



EDIT: BTW, you said "COUPLE" of hotfixes for Arcane. I sure hope that didn't refer to 1. mana reduction and 2. trinket nerf. Otherwise you might want to edit your OP bashiok as it easily sounds as if more good stuff is coming, which is just cruel.

With all due respect...it is not a 3 button spec. There is a lot that goes on with arcane that is very different from other classes/specs. Some classes are simply about pushing 6-7 buttons in exactly the right order (Like you're trying to unlock the secret level in Zelda fpr goodness sake). Arcane requires a more dynamic understanding of when to utilize AP, PoM, Mirror Images, Evocate...etc... I am not saying it is harder, but if you sit there and simply spam AB and AM's without knowing when to correctly use your other "buttons" then you will never be competitive regardless of how many buttons they give you.

99% of the wow population wont see that trinket, so overall this is a buff (no matter how small)

Before I got off on a rant could you clarify that statement please? You say you're putting out "a couple" of hotfixes for arcane mages. Are there additional hotfixes that are being implemented outside of the mana cost and Shard of Woe ones you listed?

Hmm. Are you sure? A 28% reduction in mana cost is nothing to scoff at, and makes the mana savings from that trinket accessible to people that aren't in super-hardcore guilds.

What I want to know is why did they take time to nerf a trinket 1% of the playerbase will actually get.

yet they ignore the INT procs that all hurt the spec more than help.... lol priority win!

It is when you realize 50% of arcane's issues come from it's poor mobility and pitiful AoE. Addressing the mana cost of AB isn't going to fix those issues.

It's probably all they can do via hotfixing. Making serious changes would require a patch. And they just had one of those where they did... Sweet FA.

This is just a band-aid. Meh.


Oh do you mean like the 4.0.6 patch that lasted a month without even a single fix for arcane ?

Or how about how they spent all that patch time adjusting fire's mana cost... when it simply can't put out competitive dps until the mage is in full heroic gear .... and even then they barely fall middle-of-the-pack?

It's sad ... I don't even know why i play this game anymore... it's more frustration than enjoyment

When you get right down to it, most classes are 3-button specs, usually with a proc or two thrown in to keep things "lively".

But hey, arcane might be competitive on....Argaloth and Chimaeron and.....maybe certain comps on Halfus?



Any possibility of allowing ABar to get SOME benefit from the AB debuff to help mobility?
