I have come back to this game after about six months and realized this server is on one of the slowest battle groups on WoW. It takes me on average thirty minutes for any dungeon and fifteen to thirty minutes for a single battleground match. I believe a server transfer off this server should be free. My reasoning for this is because we pay $15 a month and blizzard wants an addition $20 to trasnfer?!?! What if I just quit? They're not making any money off that...

This is a super old double standard for Aga, as old as vanilla when server transfers debuted and the server effectively died.

On a brighter note, theyre merging battlegroups into super-battlegroups, but the eta on that is unknown. Til then pray to zeus that the next wave of free transfers has Aga as a destination. Or that Bliz will finally start merging servers, which they refuse to do for whatever unknown reason./

Oh sweet I wasnt aware of that. It just sucks, I mean im 85 and I have nothing to do but gear up ....but to do that I need to run dungeons and pvp but I cant!! lol!! and I doubt this server will get free transfers because its low pop..

The last wave of free xfers' destination server had a higher pop than aga, which i found slightly annoying. Guild groups are pretty much the only way to get anything done until things get better.

They won't merge servers because it's a logistical nightmare for them. How do you decide which guilds get to keep their names when there are one of each on the servers being merged? What about names?

Then there's character and items issues. You can't xfer a character while it's in a guild, has pending mail or pending auctions. I'd assume there would be similar complications doing it on a server-wide scale (which, lets face it, is what's happening here.) Sure you could send out notice "You have one week to clear your mail/auctions before they're deleted" but dumb people are still going to do it.

Are these obstacles impassable? No. But I think blizzard feels it's just not worth the effort.

Before thinking about server merging blizz needs to fix battlegroup merging, kinda hard to do a random heroic on alts when no one speaks english in the pug group lol

yea....im probably just quitting. it is just down right outrageous to pay $20 to just change which server your on, in addition to paying $15 a month....after you pay for the discs or downloads themselves just to have the game on your computer!!!!!!
and as for cataclysm they cheated everyone out...they just took old dungeons and claim them to be 85 heroics and such now. like no one else sees this? and they made the cap 85, not even 90...meaning there WILL be many more expansions to come. cheapos!!!!

Seriously, you would not want to level from 80 to 90, too much xp. It would be a nightmare, and take a week or two to get fully leveled even for hardcore, nonstop players.

agree 100% i stayed awake for like 40 hours straight just for 5 lvls 10 would've been horrible

Well considering that the company we are dealing with is in a position where its users will pay THEM to test their product... they can pretty much do whatever they want and the majority of its subscribers will stick around.

Perhaps if the millions of people threatening to unsub like the OP actually do so then blizzard might have to back off with its draconian pay structure but realistically speaking a character transfer requires little to no logistical effort. the entire process is mostly automated anyways - paying for it is like a kick in the teeth.

But that, my friends, is the price we pay for playing the most popular MMORPG in the world.

I'd have to agree with this, although good ol fashioned pepperoni comes in a pretty close 2nd.
