Your average latency
|
eh, my average latency ranges from about 300-400, not that bad but when its being used by just 3 people its ranges from about 1k-13k...

Aussie latency sucks but here are some tips:
1. Get decent broadband. Either cable or ADSL2+ with a generous cap. Wireless is bad. 2. Run tcp/ip optimizer once on your comp and use leatrix 3. If latency is affected by multiple people at home using it: a) Try using Quality of Service. It is available on almost all routers/modems and you can set it to prioritise your WoW traffic b) Alternatively, you can cap other people's bandwidth using 3rd party software like Netlimiter. If they are using P2P software, the software often comes with an option to throttle upload and download max speeds. 4. Try enabling the optimizer in wow network settings 5. You can also use wowtunnels or battleping or a similiar tunneling service but I hear they have been bad recently due to changes on Blizz's end. |

Aussie Broadband ADSL2 I was with Internode 3yrs ago and was the best ISP I've experienced....but i had to move out and since have been stuck on this one at parents & tried Telstra last time I moved out (which resulted in paying out a 24months contract because it was SHT for wow. Currently the in game computer icon normally reads 220ms - 400ms but using quartz cast bar mod and knowing from xp most casts are much more & for some reason in arena most of my instant abilities take 400 - 800ms before going off which results in much frustration since I only pvp. (Every class in full Vicious lv 85!) Best I can manage is arena master achieve. It's impossible to get Glad title with this latency let alone 200-300ms. Lately I've been lag spiking for upto 1min before everything fast forwards and im dead. Normally it's just lots of 2-3sec spikes on top of the insane latency i play with. Getting jibbed on interrupts or the interrupt landing but the cast still going off anyway happens many times each game. LoS is an issue with CC / dmg landing on me when I'm far around a pillar. Always out of range or facing wrong way when my target is 1 step in front of me. Abilities going on CD but having no effect as if i didn't cast them often. I'll stun something and it keeps moving for 5-10yrds ...(sometimes even more >_<) before it stops moving n I lose half my effect CC durations to dps them :( The game currently sucks for people that pvp with this kinda issue. I've tried everything to fix it.... I just got the keys to my new apartment and connecting back to Internode for their gaming servers which i hear are still great compared to 400+ms U.S players that are around 2500-2600 rating would be stuck at 2000 - 2200 with a connection like mine, I have no doubt. |
~255-275 world when out questing in the hyjal zone nowadays. Oh, and I've started doing some questing during normal oz evening hours lately - had some evenings free. I've been looking at 400-500ms via optus cable between 6pm & midnight east coast oz, versus the 300-350 i've been getting lately during the middle of the day. --- And if blues really are still reading every post in this forum, would it be possible/plausible to up the custom latency slider so it goes to 500ms rather than 400ms? If we're meant to be setting it to 20-50ms higher than our pings that's really what a lot of Oceanics need for an appropriate cap. |

I'm >5kms from my exchange and on ADSL+ (not ADSL2+) and I get 180ms-240ms (~200ms) using ReduceTheLag tunnelling service.
Even the Telstra guy was surprised at the quality of the line so far from the exchange. I'm in rural Brisbane - bottom of the Sunshine Coast. |
