Anyone having time machine problems ?

I guess I'm just chiming in to say I've got the exact same issue. Open up WoW and Time Machine backs up 15-16GB's worth of data. At first I thought it had to do with my new Time Capsule but according to timedog it's WoW.

For the time being, I've excluded the whole WoW since it's just not worth the trouble and hard drive space it's eating up.

This issue is not exclusive to Time Machine on the Mac. I'm running Windows Vista 64bit and have an two automated backup systems in place (FreeNAS via WinSCP and Robocopy). The timestamp changes whenever I run WoW.

Same issue. Every time I run WoW, it will backup the entire 15gb folder in TM once I close Wow.

Is this fixed in 4.2?

It looks like WoW is opening all the files in question for R/W (read/write). This doesn't make sense unless the file in question needs to be updated. And these files only get updated with a patch.

Opening a file you're only reading for R/W is bad coding and a bad practice.

As of the latest PTR update, it's still borked.

Sorry guys and gals, I've been a bit busy trying to get Blizzard ready for OS X Lion.

I will touch base with Padim and the team to see what the status update for this bug is.

I've been having this issue for a while now, couldn't figure out how so much data was changing over night... Finally figured out it was wow and found this thread. Filled up a Time Capsule with this issue :( Oh well... Data directory is now not being backed up for the time being till this is resolved.

Yea, that's why I mentioned it was still in the works to be fixed. It's not a simple fix :(

We want to make sure when it's done, it's not breaking something else.

As TonyM said, this is in the works to be fixed. We'll let you know when we find out more. We do not have any information at this point if it will be in the 4.3 patch or before.
