Fishing Old Crafty in Orgrimmar
This character, if it really makes a difference. Lower level, so if anything that makes it even easier-er. |

I dont care what realm you are in, but im sure that if you wake up early, say 5-7 am there wont be a soul to bother you. If they do see you no one is ever in the mood for pvp at dawn.

I think it is easier on alliance, so much water in Orgrimmar, some in areas where you can fly in unnoticed land at a waterfall or pool up on the 2nd tier of orgimmar and fish away. Yes, you can be seen but the fact of the matter is that when going into ironforge, chances are you'll attract attention when the guards come after you and /localdefense spams Ironforge is under attack.
It may be sparce but there generally is at least 1 level 85 that will come kill you. You only have 1 spot that i'm aware of ironforge (other than the fountain in front of the mage/priest trainers). You pretty much need to get into place, and log for a few hours because people will camp you |
Aaaand you got it on 7th december 2008, less than a month after the release of WOTLK, when almost the entire population of horde will have been in Northrend. Remember Dalaran about a month after cata release? Not a soul in sight apart from the odd person logging on and asking 'where did the portals go? I'm stuck in Dal'? Yeah, that's how Org was then. Go get the achievement now then come back and tell me how many times you died! Actually Jay, if you watch where you're going you can dodge the flying guards and get back there nice and quietly. Plus if only one guy hears and comes after you? Pfft, kill him and teabag the corpse until he goes away again. Seriously, looking at this from the perspective of someone who has the achievements already so has no bias in the matter, it's clearly harder for alliance to get the old crafty achievement. I don't really care if it's changed or adjusted either way, I'm just saying how it is ;-) |

100% agree with the OP. Every time I /who ironforge on my high-pop server, I see MAYBE 10 people there? Old Crafty is definitely harder to obtain than Ironjaw, speaking from a PVP/gank/kill standpoint.
Edit for spelling. |

different servers are different. 2. Make the Old Ironjaw fish need to be fished up in Stormwind instead. Did anyone else laugh at the irony of this post? "It is too hard to alliance to get the fish currently. My suggestion, make it harder for Horde and make it easy for alliance." |

What cracks me up is that Alliance characters didn't complain when, up til Cataclysm dropped, Horde could glitch Old Crafty using the Crocolisks in the City daily, which used to even out the rates all everything that dropped in Org. Personally, I caught Old Craft 9 times while just trying to do that daily.
Did anyone else laugh at the irony of this post? "It is too hard to alliance to get the fish currently. My suggestion, make it harder for Horde and make it easy for alliance." I'm fairly sure he meant do either one OR the other...not both. Though I had to check twice. (edit: quoting fail....) |

Ok you all got slightly side tracked with rivalry here, I actually recently tried to fish up Old Crafty on my Alliance toon, and It's pretty hard unless your a Rogue or Druid and even then you might get a few casts per pool. There are plenty of good hiding places yes, and dont bother fishing for him if you below lvl 70 bc the Flying Gaurds with litterally #**# you, but as far as changing this I don't think it should be changed because theres no point in going for achievs or titles until you are able to make a 85 and gear him, I'm sick of achiev chasers or low lvl bracket pvpers that don't have mains, anyways now to IF, it's true that nobody is there, but in WotLK it was decently populated on most high volume servers meaning if there was going to be a change to the Hordes side of the achiev it will be with 4.2 or the following patch, so no point in QQ, the whole point of achievs is actually earning them... if you could go there and fish freely and catch him why make it a achieve in the first place.

Blizz: do NOT change anything. I had no difficulty fishing up old crafty in org, even being a stone's throw away from their cata portals. I was harassed only 2-3 times by arial guards, and running a short distance fixed that. Not once was I bothered by a player. As for how hard/easy the Horde has it fishing up ironjaw, I could care less.

do you not understand the OP's post? you used to be killed in IF because it was the alliance equivalent of Org. Post Shattering the alliance equivalent of Org is Stormwind, because that's where our portals are. also to the guy above me, you are on a low pop server. a medium to high pop server is going to have several hundred people in Org at all times. |

Cata is a horde expansion almost everything is going well for them which is why massive amounts of people are faction transferring from alliance to horde to the point many servers are becoming very imbalanced.
Maybe that's the overall plan, reduce the alliance this expansion then buff the hell out of them next expansion, give them heaps of cool racial and guild mounts while giving the horde less mounts and some crappy reskins and watch everyone pay to go back the other way lol |
|
|
I briefly considered faction transferring just to get the achievement for the Orgrimmar fish, but after being ganked hundreds of times and having nearly 6000 casts behind the waterfall in Org, I just quit the game for 6 months instead.
That achievement alone has made me stop pursuing achievements. There is nothing fun about lengthy corpse runs sandwiched between hours of getting shafted by the RNG. |
|
boohoo, I'm on Grizzly Hills server and there are more Alliance than Horde, making wintergrasp nearly impossible.
Back to the fish story, I'm standing in the rocks in Ogr around the bend right now and there's no way to be seen by anyone, also the water fall- I mean come on!!!! I have been fishing in IF for two days and both times I've had retarded Alliance ppl with no class- take cheap shots on the guy with a fishing pole. Bottom line- Blizzard needs to improve the percentages for the drop rates because no one has that kind of time to waste their lives on fishing. |

Org fishing is a lot easier than the IF one. Just hide in a bush or something
|

lolol fishing in org is easy do it at offpeak times on your realm... Hide yourself... take off your gear... take of your titles... lay down..... it isnt hard to not get detected Horde have it harder then ally since in IF there are few places you can fish and they arent really hidable places |

While I still have not completed the Achievement, getting into Orgrimmar and fishing is fairly easy. There's a waterfall in the back part of Orgrimmar that has some rocks around it. A great place to stand around and hide from Horde.
This place is alot easier for Horde, I agree, but it's also alot harder at the same time. There's only one fishing spot in Ironforge. I actually came across a blood elf priest who was fishing in said spot. I derped around and fished with her a bit, then got naked and punched her in teh face for fun. In regards to your Solutions: 1. I'm not sure what you're aiming for here exactly. It sounds like you're looking to be able to change your desired race starting city. If that's the case, it's a neat idea. Everquest had a similiar thing except you got to choose between "Deities" which effected how certain factions treated you. A similiar concept I would like to see WoW adopt. 2. Makes more sense since Stormwind is mostly water and Ironforge is mostly built into a mountian with a small pond for a fishing area. 3. For this one, i'm not so sure about. You want to move Ironjaw to a more populated city, but move Crafty from highly populated city to a lower one? That's just silly. For my server, and probably quite a few others, Undercity, Silvermoon, and Thunderbluff are dead. Moving them there would just aid Alliance in getting the Achievement quicker. |
