I have 85's of horde and alliance on the same server, and the only thing you can mail between them is heirlooms. Why is that? The system is clearly in place to be able to send items cross faction but the moment you try to put gold or something other than heirlooms it stops you. This may sound like a stupid little thing to ask for but i earned the items i want to send so why shouldn't i be able to? I'm not asking to able to send stuff to other people's characters just my own. Will this happen? Is it even a good idea?

No, it is not a good idea.

Horde and Alliance are "supposed to be" separate.

Because that would be treason.

And yes I count sending BoAs cross-faction as treason as well.
