Republic - Alliance - Dawnbringer-PVE
We are a 10-Player raiding guild where we have historically kept a roster of exactly 10.
This is becoming more and more problematic as we progress through the end-game content.
Our new policy is to rotate players for loot on farm bosses, and bring in the most productive and responsive players for progression. To implement this strategy, we need you!
Our current needs are:
Tanks: (1) one (possibly (2) two, for rotation purposes) any viable tank class+spec accepted
mDPS: (?) Enhancement Shaman, (?) Retribution Paladin, (?) Death Knight
rDPS: (?) Hunter, (?) Elemental Shaman
Heals: (?) Priest
Exceptional players are always considered even if we don't have an advertised need.FAQ:
When do you raid?
Wednesday: 8pm CST - 11pm CST
Thursday: 8pm CST - 11pm CST
Strict 9 minute breaks are at the top of each hour (9:00-9:09, 10:00-10:09) with a pull at 10 after.
What happens if I do not pass my probationary period?
You are offered an opportunity to stay on as a regular member with a future opportunity to try again at joining our raiding force. Though the possibility of remaining in the guild does also depend on why you did not pass the probationary period in the first place.
What are we like?
Incredibly laid back. We have been called the guild that Hardcore Raiders go to retire.
We are all 25-40 year old players with real life things going on, though we maintain an 85% or better attendance rate and are team players.
What kind of loot system do you have in place?
We currently use a zerosum DKP system, but are returning to a Loot Council/Roll system for MoP. Probationary members are not eligible for loot.
Do you run dungeons and stuff?
Yes, we have social members and raid members alike who run content constantly. Although our numbers have diminished due to people having babies, getting jobs, and that stupid SW game we still run together as much as possible
Can I sit in vent and giggle with other members about kitties in youtube videos?
Absolutely, we love kitties, well... most of us do. And usage of the vent server is encouraged anyway, some people hate typing.
Do you do old content?
Dawnbringer as a server is constantly running Burning Crusade stuff in PUG style, and we still run Wrath raids for the mount drops that are 100% and occassionally we do Ulduar and ICC for achievements and such. It is not uncommon for us to run old content.
Do I have to be an active theorycrafter?
No, you don't. Even though we have a few members who do constantly run analytics on our raids and theorycraft and study the game mathematically, the typical person who engages in this may find Republic to not be where they want to be. We are casual players in the sense that we do not get an unlimited set of hours to play and raid but we still have pretty high standards.
Is fluent English required?
If you can understand basic raid-related language, thats fine. If you aren't understandable over Ventrillo then you'll just be asked to not speak.
Your ability to play is primary. If language is an issue that causes a performance decrease, that will obviously be a factor. If not, then it won't be.
Who can I talk to more about Republic?
If you have any remaining questions, please direct them to Fearghal, Ravel, or Fruitninja on the Dawnbringer server in-game via Private message or in-game mail. Additionally they will probably direct you to our website for the application process and then if selected, an in-vent interview.
well, any guild who wants to minimize turnover will require a probationary period and app process. rapid turnover kills morale and nerfs progression.
"strict 9 minutes" means you're guaranteed a break at the top of every hour which is really a 10 minute break but we expect you to be at your keyboard in that last minute, which is pretty excessive for a 3 hour raid night. 9 minutes being strict means that excessive breaks past our already excessive breaks aren't tolerated. We want to play, not idle in an instance for 3 hours.
Laid back doesn't mean we log in to goof off, it means we overlook mistakes more often than others and raid only 6 hours (maybe 9 in the future) a week. People who aren't laid back raid a lot more often, and sit you for your first mistake.
Everything is relative, of course - but if any applicant has been in a raiding guild before they will find we are on the very-casual side of the raiding-type spectrum.
Thank you Datas. As you probably noticed, this recruitment message was very old. I have updated it.
You are correct about DKP. We tried it for this patch and found it to be fair, but a waste of time considering the live accounting involved. Additionally, the raid members were engaging in a Loot Council anyway by passing on gear so that the team benefited as a whole.
That's how we roll at Republic....
Been playing around a bit with Ask Mr. Robot's loot council set up... It's not too bad, and it's good about taking into account whether or not a piece will break a set bonus.
The big downside is when they have any sort of site issues... Reports slow to a freakin crawl. >.<
