Interesting. We should sticky this. Or at least link to from the 10.6.8 update thread.

What's it tell you when you attempt to update ?

it's possible the updater may be forcing mac pro only upgrades? not sure, weren't there also multiple version of 330M though for mac?

Tells me I don't have the supported hardware (even though it's on the list)

I too have a macbook pro with 330M, and get the message:

This computer will not support this NVIDIA graphics solution.

I get the same error, 2008 MBP with the 9400M/9600M GT combo.

Looking at the page, it's a little misleading. The "Supported Products" tab lists a lot of cards, yet on the "Release Highlights" tab in the "Release Notes Archive" section it states

This driver update is for Mac Pro 5,1 (2010), Mac Pro 4,1 (2009) and Mac Pro 3,1 (2008) users only, whose owners would like to use the new Quadro 4000 for Mac graphics card.

So NVidia, is it quadro only? Or is that for previous iterations of the driver? If so then why does this not work on configurations with cards listed under the "supported products" list.

Meanwhile, I hope everything runs nicely now that I have updated.

Hah, I love working around this kind of installer nonsense.

However, do we have confidence that it will work properly on a macbook pro? I guess I can test.

Montabal, good post. Yeah i figured those would work on all the listed cards, the installer was mainly targeting mac pro for bug fixes, but the kexts are still for all the cards they usually issue driver updates for. I am curious what wow bugs they fix though, they are unspecfiic in notes.

also, lightbringer, warrior? heh you don't happen to know a trade troll warrior named smallviille/meatballss do you? <3 smalls

Whatever this did, it actually caused me problems. I can't uninstall it.

Whenever I open my map the screen leaves black shadows whenever anything moves. Once I close the map, the black shadows are gone until I reopen my map.

When I installed 10.6.8 I had a hang in my system playing WoW with my 285 GTX. Screen went black and everything. When I restarted I could see it was my graphics driver that caused it.

I can no longer play WoW. It wont even start up after I installed this. I tried Installing the 10.6.8 to overwrite it and return my setting to normal, but it only made them worse. All because of this stupid installation I can no longer run WoW.

This method is at your own risk. If you do not have any of the cards listed here, or installed it incorrectly, then you may need to contact Apple for a solution. If this issue of WoW not playing happened prior to this, please create a new thread with the issue, do not hijack threads. This was just to be informative and helpful to other users who wanted to try newer drivers.

Heh, no I tend to tune out trade chat as it normally just hurts my brain. This is just one of my toons as I have quite an army of them.

I haven't observed any direct bug fixes in my tests as of yet, though I see an increase in FPS across the machines I've tried the package on.
