Copy WOW PC folder to Mac - Problems

Sorry, I tried googling a few solutions to this issue - it's not exactly clear. I just bought a new iMac and I tried to copy over my PC WOW folder - but when I click launcher...I just get script. Do I need to download the entire game again from Battle.net (but for Apple)...or is there just a few folders that I need to install or something. I suspect this question has been asked a thousand times...much appreciated.

yes you need to redownload it, windows executables will be useless on mac, onl thing you can salvage is wtf folder (settings) to an extent (still want to delete launcher.wtf and config.wtf) and the MPQ files should work cross platform. so the data folder for most part should be fine to keep

what I'd do is download the mac installer, get it to point where it's at launcher, it updates launcher with tools patch, then starts downloading like 9 gigs, at this point quit launcher

copy data folder into the new mac folder. make sure you go inside data folder though and delete entire cache folder in data folder.

then reopen launcher, it'll probalby only have a few megs to download just to patch the actual apps up to current version since data is already there.

Omegal is correct. The reason why it will not work copying from PC to Mac and vise versa is due to the formats of the files. While PCs use executable (.exe), Macs use Applications (.app). If you try to open a file that is formatted .exe on a Mac, all you will see open is allot of code. This is the reason why we have separate online down-loaders, and the disc come with both, and automatically detect which you are running.

Copying over the WTF folder is not a bad idea, it will bring over the settings over from the PC. They might need to be tweaked depending on resolution and so forth.

God luck and happy gaming.

Is any of the data content useful cross platform? I've got a mbp and a macpro, but am on a crappy verizon wireless internet with a 5gb d/l limit per month. I'd love if I could copy some of the data content from one of my rl peecee friends and just update the executables to current patch versions. What I usually do is yard the antiquated 1st gen MBP over to a friends, and dl the current software on any large patch.
