======General Patch Info=======

1. Patch File Size

    The patch file size for most users will be approximately 466mb - 502mb, depending on how many language packs you have installed

2. Language Selector

    There is a new feature added to the launcher that will allow you to stream languages on demand. Currently for North America, only Spanish is available.

3. Launcher Updates

    We made several improvements to our Launcher that should improve download performance and alleviate common technical issues. You should notice no visible difference in the new Launcher.

=====Patching=======

1. Click Play on the Launcher and it closes without starting the game, or starts after a delay of several minutes to hours.

This can be being caused by a variety of sources. Initial troubleshooting steps to take are:

    - Ensure you have the latest Service Packs and updates from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
    - Windows Vista/7: Right-click the shortcut you use to start the game and select 'Run as administrator'
    - Delete the Cache, Interface, WTF folders from the World of Warcraft directory.
    - Update your Flash player at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
    - Some players report that deleting the following files allowed them to log into the game:
      World of Warcraft\Updates\wow-0-14333-Win-final.MPQ
      World of Warcraft\WTF\Launcher.wtf
    - Look for the program "Questscan" from the add/remove programs list in the control panel. If it is present, uninstall it.
    - Go to Control Panel>Internet Options. Once the Internet Properties window comes up, click on the 'Connections' tab, then click on 'LAN Settings'. Uncheck all 3 boxes. [Note that if you are on a college or corporate network, your computer may require a proxy connection to connect.]
    - If your computer uses a BigFoot Network Interface card, please see this article: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=40736
    - Temporarily disable or uninstall any addon-managing programs
    - Temporarily uninstall any antivirus or antispyware programs you have running (make sure you have the ability to reinstall them after testing before doing this). For Norton and McAfee, ensure that you use the specific removal tool provided by each company; otherwise these programs will leave traces behind which may continue to interfere.
    - Scan your system for malware with an antimalware program such as Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org.
    - Create a new administrator account on the computer and attempt to launch the game while logged on to it.
    - Disable or remove any overlay software such as Asus GamerOSD, RocketDock, etc.
    - Disable, update, or remove any Internet parental control software (eg, Cloudcare, Covenant Eyes)
    - Boot the computer into Selective Startup mode to see if any other background programs are interfering: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=21052

2. Error 1 Crash when patching on Windows XP

    There is a bug when patching with the new Launcher on Windows XP that will crash with an Error 1, during the patch transitions. That is, when the patch moves from 'Setup' -> 'Available' or from 'Available' -> 'Playable'.

    The current workaround is simply to restart the launcher. This will allow you to patch fully, although it may take a few restarts. There will be a tools update to address this issue permanently.

    EDIT 7/1/11: The tools update has been applied, and this issue should be fixed.

3. Patch Attempts to download 15gb of data.

    Some users will notice the patch trying to download significantly more information than required for the patch.

    Restarting the launcher will cause the patcher to recalibrate the patch data, and download the correct amount.

4. "Your game Installation is Damaged. Please run repair."

    1) Open the World of Warcraft/Updates folder.
    2) Delete “wow-0-14333-Win-final.MPQ”
    3) Open the World of Warcraft/Data folder.
    4) Delete “wow-update-base-14333.MPQ”
    5) Run the repair tool.

=====Interface=======

1. MovePad

    There is a bug in 4.2.0 causing our built in MovePad feature to not function correctly.

    The current workaround is to download a third-party MovePad addon of your choice. This issue will be resolved in a future patch.

2. Re-Order Character Selection screen

    At your request we have implemented a feature that will allow you to manually re-order your characters on the character selection screen. Logging into the game or logging out normally will save the new character order.

    Forcing the game to close using Alt-F4 or the Task Manager will not save the re-order changes.

3. With the release of Patch 4.2, the default UI scale has been changed, and you may notice a decrease or increase to the size of your interface.

In order to adjust this, simply open the 'Options' menu by hitting the escape button on your keyboard. Click 'Advanced' on the left side of the menu. You will see a 'UI Scale' section containing a checkbox and a slider bar. Ensure this checkbox is selected and adjust the slider bar accordingly. Click the 'Apply' button to test your new UI Scale and click the 'Okay' button to save settings.
