Topic Slow Weapons Are Better for New Hemo Spec
Edited by Backpacklol on 7/4/11 4:04 PM (PDT)
Many rogues have been debating on whether daggers or slow weapons are better for the new Hemo spec that many are using in 4.2. Most of these rogues have gone with daggers.
(Math is done using T1 weapons, it will scale accordingly)
Here is why slow weapons are better:
Fist Weapon base damage = 1563
Dagger base damage = 999
Non Dagger damage bonus from hemo = 155%
Dagger damage bonus from hemo = 225%
Fist Weapon or other slow weapon:
1563 X 1.55 = 2422.65 Hemo damage
999 X 2.25 = 2247.75 Hemo damage
As shown in the math above, the extra weapon damage from slow weapons outweighs the damage bonus to daggers.
Also with a slow weapon, your attacks other than hemo will hit harder as well.
This thread is of course only if you are running a hemo spec, not a backstab spec.
Keep in mind that daggers are still more viable in your offhand to make Shiv cost less energy.

with the new patch, hemo spec does a lot more damage than it did and is viable if not better than backstab.
This is not a Backstab v Hemo thread, this is a thread to help rogues currently running a Hemo spec on weapon choice.
I think you still get the benifit of the 225% weapon bonus if you have a dagger in ur offhand because the tooltip states that you only need a dagger equipped it says nothing about it being in your main hand.

No it doesn't work like that.
