Lately i have been running into more and more people unwilling to help people out. It's like we get to a point and even though we had been there at some time or another we discard all that are "beneath" us. I see people asking for help and people telling them to just go read it for themselves. Now how do you think people learned to write the guides that everyone is reading? Did they not experiment themselves with other people who also had no idea what they are doing? But then that leaves new players or semi experienced players like myself with two options..... Learn your own way of WoW and have everyone in the entire server bashing you for it, or read everyone's contradicting posts about what they think is right. It seems like too many people have forgotten to have fun with the people they play with. You see more selfishness in a game where you can essentially do whatever you want when you want, than in real life where things are 1 million times more difficult and stressful. The game is a place where you can relax and enjoy your accomplishments and hopefully do so with friends. But it just seems like everyone keeps going their own way. It is harder and harder to make new friends especially when you get so far behind the "core" groups playing. .... just a thought.... why don't we all just try to remember what it was like when we had too many questions to possibly be answered by one person, and stop racing after the best stuff. Just enjoy the game . Have fun while you are waiting for that piece to drop. Don't just say "screw this, i'm out" after a few deaths because its someone's first time. Teach them what they are doing wrong. Heck take the opportunity to make a friend who might be a great teammate for you once they just have a little guidance.

This was a valid point prior to the LFD system. Now the odds of seeing the same person again in a heroic are slim to none, unless they're on your realm and you que'd together, in which point your post is moot. LFD destroyed any semblance of community in heroics. My advice, if you really want to make friends and find people willing to lend a hand, is to look for it on your own realm through trade/general. Thinking that complete strangers are going to want to give a hand out to you in old content when most are just trying to get their valor is insanely naive. |

I want to still believe in what the OP's point is, but I was like that for so long and you eventually come to a point where you just want to do what you're trying to accomplish as fast as you can, you really just....change after a bit.

All the jackasses spamming Trade with "I can has Ur Goldz?!" aren't helping either. I think a lot of people get so sick of seeing it, that they are less willing to sort through the lazy beggars and "Take time out of your day to carry me for no thanks" kids, in order to help those who may actually deserve it. Fully agree that Heroic Dungeon groups were much better in WotLK prior to the Random Dungeon Finder. We traded quality for quantity and a few extra rewards. It wasn't bad at first, but lately it seems the percentage of horribly fail groups, whether it be people who don't understand the encounters, or players who's personality would infuriate even the Dalai Lama. |
