I have toons that are either horde or alliance. There are times when I want to pass on some money/herbs/leather/ore/etc... but can only do so to those of the same faction. I can understand that maybe some gear might be faction dependent(though I cant think of any at the moment), but anything else shouldnt be a problem. Its the same account. It should not matter if I send stacks of cloth from my hordie to my allie toon to help with their skill set. Yet I can't. It's not like I am sending things to another account, its just that my account I have probably 20 toons or more of various factions and classes. THis shouldn't be a big deal programming wise(and I should know as I am a software developer ;-) ).

This would really be a great feature. Maybe make the SEND MAIL have a drop down that specifies my toons regardless of realm and faction I can send to!!

thx

You can send stuff that's BoA such as the heirloom gear across factions, just enter the name of the toon. As for the other stuff, its very possible to transfer it, its just very risky. You can technically put the items on a neutral auction house for about 1 copper, and just have a friend pick em up (blizzard won't allow you to purchase it through your own toons). Only problem is that if someone else picks them up before your friend then there's nothing that can be done since they bought it fair and square.

Yeah and thats the problem... I should not have to go through so much to move things around... its the same paid account not another.... It should be a common or base feature of the game. In fact being able to manage inventories of my other toon would be nice too so I didnt have to logout and login and logout and login and ............

Dev's don't look in this forum I beleive. Suggestions should be posted in general or an appropraite section if one exists (maybe professions).

I also believe the reason you cannot mail gold/items across factions is because on each realm, each faction has their own economy. What would happen is eventually people would have an ally/horde bank alt and then buy/sell items from one faction and then buy/sell to the opposite wherever there is more profit. In the long term, the prices should even out, however, you may also end up with a market for say cloth on horde, but no market available on ally and people whould end up w/ bankers on both sides to buy what they need and mail it back/forth.

On really competitive servers, I could also see it becoming a way to keep the other factions progression down. Lets say...buying all trugold or volatiles from the opposition faction they are forced to farm their own will really slow down the ability to craft epics, etc.

Then you should know that architectural decisions made 6-7 years ago are what determines how big of a deal it is.

... as Harlan has alluded to. The factions are in a state of hostility... if not outright war - a fundamental game premise. If your grandparents were German-American, would they have bought both **!! and American war bonds? One side or the other would have rightfully had them shot if they had done so.

You can send BoA gear to the other faction and see it used against you in BG's.

Basicly this. You have to keep in mind that while you are able to play both alliance and horde toons on the same pve server, they are infact mortal enemies and would never help eachother out. They don't even know eachother.

Can play them on PVP servers now too on both factions.

But I agree. It would be bad for the game. The economies are seperate.

They have this system in place so you don't destroy the economies of each faction. People would just trade their items to their alt if their alts faction had a higher selling price for an item. This way its more realistic, as to where each side has their own independent economies, and neither can be destroyed by the opposing faction.

If you have a friend on the other faction that you trust you can put up whatever you want your character to have on a neutral auction house (in a goblin town), put it up for about 1 copper, have your friend buy it and give it to your character.
The same can be done with money, but rather the friend would put a worthless item on the ah for a larger amount of money and then you would buy it on your main to transfer that money.

-If you do use this method, make sure you can trust them so they don't wander off with your money.

Also using the Neutral AH to transfer goods/money definitely falls under the "use at your own risk" category because the Neutral AH is open to the WoW player public, so if someone sees your items they are fully within their right to buy them, at which point you have no recourse.
