realm status broken?

So I went to work on my API PHP project today and noticed that I am still getting curl errors for realm status (like I was earlier today). I presumed that was because the servers we're all offline since the forums were also down.

But why does:
http://us.battle.net/api/wow/realm/bloodhoof?fields=status
and
http://us.battle.net/api/wow/realm/all?fields=status

return nothing at all?

Shouldn't it actually return something that says the server(s) are down?

It's not returning "nothing", it's specifically returning an empty list:

{
"realms":[]
}

In my app I just check for an empty return list and handle it as a special case, popping up a message box instructing the user to wait a while then tap refresh.

Of course, the broader issue here is that the realm status API appears to be down. :( Still, it was handy to catch this as a failure case. :)

I wasn't even getting that. curl was telling me the URL returned error 503 (Service Unavailable).

Although it appears to be working again now.

Ohh, yes, you'll need to catch 503s, too. :) I hit that this morning.
