Per the suggestion of one of the posters in that thread, posting this in general. I keep seeing so many people post in that thread that say "I wish I'd known before I bought it."

Edit: People think they're getting this:

Note the tooltip in-game on both the pattern and the sword is wrong.

The first link I provided to the "original" is off as well; I can't seem to find a link to the current state in-game. But you get the idea.

The speed is a lie.

Yeah. I made one for myself anyway because the stars have to align perfectly for me to get a good weapon. The stars have not been aligning for me this expansion. So I started working on the dailies and started saving up the mats and made myself the tanking sword and the Str DPS 2Hander.

I knew the weapon speed and top damage info was a lie from the Wowhead comments, but it was still an upgrade. I'm betting their are a few people out there that could use it. But I do wish Blizz would fix the tooltip.

Yes, obviously Blizzard needs to fix the tooltip on the pattern and the item if they're not going to just make it 3.80 like it ought to be. But, I think the real question ought to be:

I have to agree :( I wish we could just get a blue response one way or another.

I bought mine for 7.5K yesterday. The only new recipe weapons that are selling for high prices yet on my server are the caster dagger and mace (damn, cause I needs many of those).

And I'm happy with it, it's actually an upgrade to my tanking set. I'm still clinging to my trusty Blade of the Fearless for dps, though.

Bump so others can be warned.

BTW there are other busted tooltips too; so buyer beware right now.

Or was that just a snarky reply? I can't tell; I hate text sometimes.

I could be off but wouldn't 3.5 speed be better than 3.80. You would swing faster. Is that not a good thing. Not trolling i am really curious.

Its not a good thing for any attack based off of weapon damage.

Various items and abilites. Improved Death Strike Tooltip for example still shows the old bonuses and not the new ones.

When your abilites are based off of weapon damage, not speed or dps value, the damage is what matters most. Who cares about auto-attack weapon speed when it is such a small part of your overall DPS?

3.8 speed usually results in the highest damage numbers for that ilevel range.

Actually the 365 weapon even with a 3.5 speed hits harder than any 346 regardless of speed.
speed for special attacks is normalized and weapon dps is the same for Ilvl. slower weapons just have higher ranges with a higher top ranged which means it can crit much harder.

I wouldnt have bothered buying this if i had a 359 weapon even if it was 3.8 speed just because its such a small upgrade for the gold cost and is not needed at all for firelands.

Personally I think the fact that a 359 weapon hits harder (akirus) than a 365 weapon isn't right. Probably an oversight.
