Would that mean that lvl 1 bank alts will not show up? Since most do not make it to the viewable Armory listing?

Low level characters are in the dumps, its more like when someone create a new character it takes some time before it is synced to the armory.

P.S. Using the search shows low level character also in the result list there are just no detailed informations for them.

Correct, there is no issue with showing auctions of level 1 characters. It appears to be only recently created characters.

Not sure if that also includes recently name changed and/or server/faction changed as well, though.

The current Ursin US auction data json is malformed, causing PHP's json_decode to fail. Alliance auctions with the owner "kamala" have a tab 0x09 character before the owner's name. The tab character is a restricted control character that must be escaped within strings, according to json.org.

Just search for "kamala" in the file to find examples. Currently, auction IDs 1269006654, 1269172853, 1269006647, 1269006671 and others show this behavior.

We'll take a look at this - there should definitely NOT be restricted control characters in character names!

hello! late to the party :(

the dump is modified approximately every hour but is the snapshot taken on the dot? can it be ensured?

having data that has is measured at fixed intervals will help very much in analysis! it would be quite difficult to measure things (like say prime time prices) if the update drifts away from the dot slowly.

I've been recording the data dump from my realm for a while now. I can say that there is no guarantee for a fixed interval, and that it is definitely not the case. Any application you write should not assume fixed interval.

Here's some sample update times that were for my realm:

8/15/2011 12:51
8/15/2011 13:51
8/15/2011 14:51
8/15/2011 15:51
8/15/2011 16:51
8/15/2011 17:04
8/15/2011 17:58
8/15/2011 19:03
8/15/2011 20:08
8/15/2011 21:13
8/15/2011 22:18
8/15/2011 23:23
8/16/2011 0:28
8/16/2011 1:33
8/16/2011 2:38
8/16/2011 3:43
8/16/2011 4:48
8/16/2011 5:53
8/16/2011 6:58
8/16/2011 8:03
8/16/2011 9:08
8/16/2011 10:13
8/16/2011 11:18

Further, price action analysis during "prime time" would be mediocre at best even with a fixed interval of 1H. This is the case, because "prime time" is likely the most volatile time period with also the most volume going through.

We lack any sort of volume information. Further, price is updated faster than the data "ticks" we receieve for an item via AH API. So, during a high volume, high volatile situation the ticks we receive may be inaccurate reflections of the actual trend. It is akin to a near-sighted individual who can make out that they are looking at a television, but is unable to identify the make is Sony.

So I caution anyone trying to use SMA, EMA, or other such technical analysis tools on price action with this time-frame of data. The underlying data ticks are too wide-spread for such analysis tools to be truly useful during high volatility and volume moves.

That's weird that you'd see two snapshots, minutes apart (16:51, then again at 17:04).

hello! thanks.

these are problems common to all kinds of non-HF data. there are ways to 1) avoid making conclusions based on incomplete data 2) estimate incomplete data.
i'm not too worried though! just that (2) is slightly harder without fixed intervals.

Hello,

It appears that the auction API is not working, queries for the latest dump result in the following error:

http://us.battle.net/api/wow/auction/data/greymane

{"status":"nok", "reason": "Internal server error."}

This is occurring for all realms and when a realm is misspelled, the expected "Realm not found" message is produced.

Is there any ETA on a fix for this?

Thanks,

- Garrison (Vexium)
