So I've decided to start camping for this. Any advice from those that have gotten it?

Cylark on Wowhead posted this amazing tip for getting Mysterious Camel Figurines. All credit goes to him/her. I ended up finding more Figurines this way including my eventual real one. You need Gathermate 2 and Gathermate 2 Data. This will place every single Figurine spawn point on your map.

If you use Gathermate2 I've entered in all the camel spawn locations so you can import them via the Gathermate2_Data addon.

Step1
1.) Open up TreasureDate.lua inside the GatherMate2_Data Folder
2.) Find the line where it says:

[720] =
{

After the bracket { copy and paste the following

[2970205000] = 538,
[2980250000] = 538,
[3420196000] = 538,
[3440214000] = 538,
[3360256000] = 538,
[3320282000] = 538,
[4520158000] = 538,
[4000386000] = 538,
[4000434000] = 538,
[4000448000] = 538,
[3200450000] = 538,
[3260478000] = 538,
[2540512000] = 538,
[2460600000] = 538,
[2220640000] = 538,
[2560658000] = 538,
[2620648000] = 538,
[2860636000] = 538,
[3060606000] = 538,
[3040624000] = 538,
[3080665000] = 538,
[3160692000] = 538,
[3300718000] = 538,
[3320680000] = 538,
[3320630000] = 538,
[3300598000] = 538,
[3700640000] = 538,
[3820604000] = 538,
[3860548000] = 538,
[4080496000] = 538,
[4620446000] = 538,
[4800466000] = 538,
[5060506000] = 538,
[5180496000] = 538,
[5180706000] = 538,
[5200510000] = 538,
[5060722000] = 538,
[5020734000] = 538,
[4900758000] = 538,
[4720768000] = 538,
[5100796000] = 538,
[5060316000] = 538,
[5240280000] = 538,
[6480302000] = 538,
[7200440000] = 538,
[7000580000] = 538,
[7340736000] = 538,
[5140512000] = 538,
[7320916000] = 538,

Step2
1.) In game open up /Gathermate
2.) Go to Import
3.) Select Merge, Be sure Treasure Data is checked, and hit the Import GatherMate2Data button.

You can use the routes addon along with Gathermate2 to also give you an optimized route for hitting every possible spawn point.

Go to your World of Warcraft folder > Interface > Addons > GatherMate2_Data > Treasure Data

720 is closer to the bottom of the page in notepad.

Bumping this old thread instead of starting a new one, because it already does have good advice. I have a question for those that have found the real figurine:

Did you clear 50410 out of your cache every time to keep you up on spawn times/locations, maybe to help keep them spawning, or did you just have npcscan look for the real one?

I have npcscan look for both. That way, even if I'm let down I get the 20 gold and feel like I got something.

Lately I've not found either, though I sometimes make a pass when going to do living elements.

You should definitely track both. That way, you can get a no-spawn window when you find a fake. I edited NPCscan so that the fake has (FAKE) at the end and the real one has (REAL) at the end.

I'm interested in getting tips on procedure more than route. Has the lowest spawn time been confirmed at 5-6 hours? I'd heard 12. What's the best way to get your first spawn time? Just flying around for hours (which, sadly, unlike the TLPD, can't just be camped while you do other things) until NPCScan goes off, or is it known what the spawn window from, say, server restart is?

The closest I've come to this was my Higher Learning achieve - I waited until a server restart, because it's known that books are all up following one, and got my spawn times then (since it's also known that they respawn in a 3-4 hour window). Are analogous things known for the camel statues? I see a lot of conflicting info on Wowhead.

Yes clear it every time.

Only one statue (real or fake) spawns each time. When it is clicked the respawn timer starts again. Respawns can be from a minimum of eight hours to as long as twelve. Once you find a spawn jot down the time. Then come back in eight hours and do a lap of all the spawn points. Repeat every twenty-minutes until you find it or are convinced you missed it.

It took me twenty-six fakes to find the real one.

Good luck!

Yukio, how did you acquire your initial spawn? Did you just do circuits until you found one, or is there associated server-restart behavior you took advantage of?

I simply did random circuits for it; there's no server restart time that I'm aware of (though this doesn't necessarily mean there isn't one). Given how the nodes are distributed, I'd recommend starting with the western side of the zone first for your circuits. For me at least, a complete circuit would take ~10 mins, so it makes sense to try and hit up the denser node clusters before anyone else does. (If the time seems a bit excessive to others, I also would mine up all the ore I'd fly over as well as look for that armadillo rarespawn - might as well down that one for the boe weapon and gold if you can).

I also only checked the zone once per hour. Although others may differ on this, my opinion is that the camel isn't the most sought after of mounts; you likely don't have to be as obsessive with timing and what not in hunting it as you would the TLPD or Aeonaxx. True, it only takes one other person to snatch up the statue and force you to hunt for longer; however, they could easily do this even if you are constantly in the zone (since you clearly can't be near all nodes at once).

What would be somewhat useful to know is if the statues ever simply despawn on their own.

On a Friday night I just started doing laps in twenty or thirty minute increments starting at about midnight until I found one. Then I'd start the process roughly eight hours after that and keep doing laps in twenty minute increments until it spawned.

Obviously you won't find them all between real life making spawn camping impossible, other commitments, and of course other camel hunters. If you miss one just estimate based off your last known time.

There is no server restart behavior that I am aware of. Server restarts do seem to reset the clock and cause the previous week's data to become invalid but the first spawn after a reset has no discernable pattern that I can tell.

So, I followed the advice.
I downloaded Gathermate2.
I downloaded Gathermate2 Data.
I went into the LUA folder, i pasted the copied information from above.
I saved the changes. I went into the game and typed /gathermate
I clicked on Import
I made sure that Treasure was checked, I set it to Merge,

And the Import Gathermate2Data button was grayed out, and unable to be pushed, pressed, punched, or otherwise. Help!

I've got a quick question.

The spawns around the Temple of the Moon? Are they inside the temple or outside on top of the temple? Also, I see a spawn WAY out to sea (down south), is this a legit spot or just a mistake on my part?

I just found my first, fake, one today. I use NPC Scanner, Tomtom location and I have 5 macros that puts all the camel statue waypoints on my map. When I fly over one, it disappears so I know I hit it and can move on. Planning to go back later today after the spawn cycle has a chance to restart and see if I can grab the next.
