A lot of things are currently up in the air for SWTOR. First off, they have released the ability to pre-order the game with some ridiculous prices of 60/80/150 dollars before they have even announced the subscription fee. There is talk on the forums of micro-transactions, but it doesn't look like the fanbase supports those ideas.
An employee said that SWTOR would be EA's most expensive failure yet. I can't argue with it when they are charging so much for a pre-order without a mass amount of the playerbase even experiencing legit gameplay on top of the lack of notification on how much a subscription will cost or even anything about any payment methods whatsoever. I hope it does well and all, I might have to get a copy once it's out, but I stick to thinking that it will not be the WoW killer and it isn't the second coming as many people are currently seeing it. |

100% true But i really don't care if it kills WoW or not... WoW is just... Repetative now...
Trading card game, in game vanity pets and mounts... Micro-transactions. And i doubt it will be done...
Have you bought a game recently? Last time i checked Diablo 3 Didn't have a release date... it costs 60$. Weird? And to top this off, SWTOR right now is one of the most bought PC games.... The fan base is big enough for it to be fun... Not to big that it gets annoying... <3 .... It best be good |
Posted by Spinnerdh Micro-transactions as in better weapons and bigger ships, etc. Buying things that actually make you a better player, not just pets and mounts. Btw, video games do cost about 60$, but not the ones with additional payment required. The WoW battle chest costs about 20 bucks right now. That's for vanilla and BC. When you toss wrath and cata into the mix, it evens out to a little less than 90$, according to amazon. However, this is to be expected as the game has evolved and you are buying the actual game and 3 expansion packs after that. SWTOR is going to cost at a minimum 60$, and many people will be buying the 80$ and even some the 150$ version. Keep in mind that this is for a game who's subscription fee is not settled and is also brand spanking new, and by that I mean the only actual gameplay going on right now is early beta testing and what not, we have an insight on the game a bit, but not nearly enough to actually know how good it will be. So yes, while 60$ is a fair price for games like Halo or call of duty. Having that as the purchase price for a brand new MMO that will require a subscription is just to much. |
