Launcher Problem

I previously have played WoW before and had uninstalled it a few months ago. I've decided to play again and reinstall it and that process went fine. The next day, I try to play but after I clicked the PLAY button, nothing came up. I try again but now it wont take me to the screen where the button said PLAY and other stuff. It was working when everything was downloaded last night. I woke up in the morning and it didn't work. Please Help.

Go into the task manager and check under processes for launcher.exe. How many do you see running?

I suffer from the same issue. Nothing on my end changed since the patch, aside from the patch. I tried some of the workarounds some suggested, but the only one that truely works is having to use the WoW.exe file.

I have the same problem and I have only on launcher process running when I check. Seems to only work properly after I download a patch or version prior to launching.
Thanks,

Davidedl, I have a Killer MD card. Looks to be under a bigfoot folder, so I'm going to say yes? Not overly tech savvy, sorry.

I saw the thread about manually deleting the launcher.wtf file prior to launching. That seems to work for me.

I tried that too, works for the one time, then when the new WTF folder comes in place, the problem repeats

You sure there isn't a network port built into the motherboard? If there really isn't anything there then you might want to try uninstalling your Bigfoot Network Manager to see if that helps.

Davidedl,

I'm sure there actualy is now I think about it. Like I said, not realy comp savy, but there would have to be one built in and not just an external one. Just not sure how to go about finding it without having a clue as to what it would be named if seperate or how to access it if named after the motherboard. Also sorry for the delay in responding!

As a side note, thank you tons for even responding and putting up with people like me! I know it must be aggrovating, and double so when trying to commune via the net to someone who has little knowledge in this department. I can totaly see a "Does this gimp seriously not have a clue about network ports built into the MB!?" thought! I know I do from time to time over certain things!

I'll try what you suggested and report back.

Correct, one ethernet port is more than likely built into the motherboard, but you should be able to access it from the back of the computer case.

To locate the actual port just turn the computer tower around, look where the ethernet port is currently plugged into, and then check for another port that the ethernet cable could fit in.

Once you have that figured out we just need to make sure that the built in network card is activated and then deactivate the bigfoot card. We can do both of these processes in the Device manager section of Windows.

To get to the device manager go to the start menu > right click on "Computer" and select "Manage" > then click on "Device Manager" along the left window pane.

Once you have the device manager open, expand the Network Adapters section. There should be at least two network cards listed there. The one that is currently deactivated should have a red "X" over its name. You can activate it by right clicking on it and selecting "Enable". When that is done right click on the Bigfoot card and select "Disable". Then reboot the system. You might need to reboot the modem and router as well to reset the connection.

I am experiencing the same issue.

I got a 'return to WoW' email, so I decided to check it out.

Wow launcher (v4.2.0.14333) started and began the update process. The update download completed (100%), but then gives a message "Your game installation is damaged. Please run Repair." when the "Applying updates" begins.

I am familiar with the repair tool, so I ran it, and after a few minutes it gives the message "Repair is complete, and no problems were found." (clicking OK closes the repair tool)

I try Wow again and get the message "Your game installation is damaged. Please run Repair." in a WoW pop-up window. (clicking OK closes Wow - or launcher - whichever is technically showing the "Applying" step.)

Attempting to start Wow without the Launcher results in a message that I need to update.

I have tried each of the steps above (1 at a time), and I do not have the network card listed in the previous posts - although my (on-board) network card is working fine in all other applications.
