■What type of content do you focus on? [PvE/PvP/Both]
Both - 70%PvE; 30%PvP;
- Balance Druid since 2006 (frequently Resto OS with varying degrees on volunteering).
■If PvE, what type of PvE? [Heroics/Raids/Other]
Mainly Raiding with the minimum Heroics/Daily Grind required to support raiding.
■If PvP, what type of PvP? [Arenas, BGs, Rated BGs]
■What are your biggest quality-of-life issues?
I miss the true hybrid nature of druids in vanilla for both PvP and PvE, being able to competitively heal and/or tank adds successfully in bear form (eg core hound packs in MC) whilst maintaining same balance spec (just changing gear) was a lot of fun. Those old feral skills are a thing of the past for me now.
The depth of the balance rotation and resto options have evolved (and significantly improved) since vanilla, making the game more fun and challenging, though.
■What makes playing your class more fun?
The level of potential to adapt to any challenge with the different forms - each being very different to the other's playstyle and also social/emote wise.
Definite degree of challenge to master each spec, 1 button clicking is not for me.
(lol and yes the big dps numbers/heal numbers are definitely appreciated - oh god the balance dps and gearing in vanilla <shiver>) .
■What makes playing your class less fun?
Sadly, it is the level of survivability in the PvP environment - hence why no arena experience.
The complexity of the balance rotation has gone a lilttle too far with the need to `game' the eclipse rotation (ie get into solar eclipse and stay there for each add phase) for every fight to do omg dps numbers <doing your job in the raid> vs doing low to middle dps numbers <not doing your job>- ie intense proactive forward planning versus reactive burst damage (would be nice to be able to relax and enjoy the endgame mechanics a bit more again).
■How do you feel about your “rotation”?
Overall I greatly enjoy the Balance Rotation (no idea about those dirty ferals), IMO it's the best it has ever been and is definitely different to all the other caster rotations (very important to an old druid like me).
BUT as mentioned above the level of complexity to `game' the eclipse to the right position for each add phase combined with the execution of shrooms (3 GCD reticle clicking, again predicting where the mobs will be and then coping with potential lag spikes with latency during omg AoE ,for each shroom ......) with another reticle click for treants (to have them then run back to you anyway most of the time ......) definitely detracts on the enjoyment of the rotation (feels like more work and less play atm - I'm not an orc grunt!!!).
Resto wise, likewise to me it is the most enjoyable it has ever been - pretty much use every ability there is now days (each has a definite role) and unlike a lot of others in the community, I don't have a desire for mitigation type ability on top of it, to copy the other healers (the shear omg burst healing we can do, means we have a different niche in the healing roster - did I mention I like our class feeling different to the others :D).
