What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? For instance, no longer requiring ammo could be considered a quality-of-life improvement for hunters.
- Inquisition is a bit of a bother, and the whole ret rotation is just spastic and clunky in general.

What makes playing your class more fun?
- As of late, not much. See below for clarification.

What makes playing your class less fun?
- For a start, the class is lacking in unique and interesting abilities. We've never been incredibly impressive visually, with most of our abilities amounting to a big shiny light, and with the release of Cataclysm many of the mechanically unique abilities of our class went out the window. Bubble hearth wasn't exactly the most dignified ability, but it was something. So either returning some of those unique capabilities to us or giving us new ones would be nice.

How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)
- I don't care for it. Prot is alright, but ret is just overly random and unenjoyable. Also, and I realize this probably will come across as a bit of a silly complaint, I have a very hard time relating the way either spec plays to actual combat for the class. With a warrior, for instance, I get a sense that the rotation they use acts as a reasonable replica of how that character is actually fighting, not so with paladins at all. Paladins were given a rotation that replicated (and quite effectively, I think) the fighting style of a rogue, which obviously doesn't work as well when you try and relate that back to a heavily armored holy warrior swinging around a giant two-hander.

What’s on your wish list for your class?
- Some unique and interesting abilities, maybe something that allows us to actually effect the battlefield or our place within it. A snare would be nice too. I'd also like it if GoAK was changed so the paladin changed into the guardian rather than it being a pet. Oh, and a flying mount, but that one's pretty low on my personal wishlist compared to everything else.

What spells do you use the least?
- Consecration (which is a bit of a shame, since it's the one ability we have that actually modifies the are around us), hand of salvation, retribution aura.

With the change to healing in Cata, that our Ret self-heals are kinda useless.

What makes playing your class more fun?

That I could heal myself.

What makes playing your class less fun?

That I can't anymore. Also the crazy RNG crazy proc based button mashing...hard to pay attention to your surroundings.

I touched on this above. Its too crazy.

What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? For instance, no longer requiring ammo could be considered a quality-of-life improvement for hunters.
Having to stare at the list of buffs to see if Inquisition is about to fall off or has already fallen off, as well as staring at the Holy Power meter to see if I'm at 3 yet. The latter I've grown used to, the former is still difficult in a raid environment when there are multiple rows of buffs to skim through.

What makes playing your class more fun?
Standard things for hybrids: powerful, visual attacks; barely surviving in hard life-and-death situations, having very useful situation cooldowns like Guardian of Ancient Kings, Divine Shield, Lay on Hands, Avenging Wrath.

What makes playing your class less fun?
Staring at the list of current buffs. IE: Checking for Inquisition or Zealotry.

The nerfs to Divine Shield. I understand it was unbalanced at a 12 second duration, but now that it's only 8 seconds in length, it's barely enough time for a couple quick heals before it's down. It is now by far inferior to Lay on Hands, and the only time I use Divine Shield is if I have a healer with me, I'm clearing debuffs really fast, or I'm losing threat as retribution spec. I'm not sure what the solution for Divine Shield would be, but I know it feels wrong as it currently is.

Having my cooldowns (Avenging Wrath, Hand of Freedom) spellstolen is very frustrating. It makes fighting mages particularly challenging, and often impossible. I admit I'm not the best at PvP but it is a concern of mine.

How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)
I enjoy the Ret and Prot rotation. I feel Prot has a lot of short cooldowns which give me a lot to manage and watch over, in addition to tanking trinkets. I enjoy stacking Holy Power and then blowing it up.

What’s on your wish list for your class?
More cool looking Tier sets. Paladin Tier gear is always hit or miss. (T10 = Miss; T11 = Semi-hit; T12 = Home run, for example) I would love more 'holy' looking gear in-line with T6, less robes, and less 'Power Ranger' or 'Banana Suit' quality gear. An example of a holy set would be a set modeled after our cooldown pet, Guardian of Ancient Kings.

I would love for retribution to bring more utility to a raid environment, as well as having more situational abilities for soloing or PvP. As an example, a sprint, a snare, a more frequent snare-escape, would be the king of things that would be highly prized.

I would love for the Ret rotation to be made more complex, and possibly less random. I finally saw what a complex rotation was as a rogue and as a shadow priest and thought it would be so much more fun to have that level of challenge as a paladin.

I absolutely love protection.

What spells do you use the least?

Without a doubt, Consecration. I have removed it from my bars as retribution entirely, and only use it on trash as protection. It is a mana hog, and does little damage. Holy Wrath is always a better option. I read some theory-crafting where consecration is only useful in comparison to Holy Wrath when there are 26+ enemies that will be hit by it. Regardless, consecration isn't in a great state the way it currently is.

I only use Judgement to get the mana back. It hits like a sleepy kitten.

I no longer use Word of Glory much due to the lengthy cooldown.

Seal of Justice as well. I forgot this existed.

Long time Holy Paladin. Been playing since Vanilla and progressed through some of the hardest content in the game (pre 3.0 Sunwell! ugh). Haven't raided hardcore in Cata but still have a good feel for the spec/class.

If PvE, what type of PvE? [Heroics/Raids/Other]
Heroics + Raids

If PvP, what type of PvP? [Arenas, BGs, Rated BGs]
None at the moment. I don't have enough time (or the overall desire) to build a suitable PVP set.

What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? For instance, no longer requiring ammo could be considered a quality-of-life improvement for hunters.
Well, we dont need Symbols of Kings anymore...so this is kind of a pointless question.

What makes playing your class more fun?
Holy Power. I love it. I also like the fact that we actually have to pay attention to our mana now.

What makes playing your class less fun?
Having to judge on cooldown. If I miss a judgement or two, I feel like I'm going to be screwed. I'm also still not very happy with the heals in our toolbox. I've always felt Paladins need a true HOT (not a half-arsed glyphed WOG).

How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)
I wouldn't consider the heals a rotation, more of a situational thing but I'd love to see a HOT worked into our heals.

What’s on your wish list for your class?

(in no particular order)

• Paladin specific Flying Mount and/or revamp the Charger.

• A true HOT. Druids have one. Priests have one. It's time for Paladins to get one.

• Do something about the spell-graphics for Holy Shock! For a spell we are supposed to use on cooldown, the effects are non-existant. Priests get a sick looking effect for Pennance.

• Librams graphic shown on our hip (toggle on/off)

• Bring back Divine Intervention. Sure, we have Mass Rez but now the only people who really get to make wipe recovery faster are soulstoned players and/or Shaman who reincarnate.

• Give Ret Paladins what they want. Sick of hearing them QQ.

What spells do you use the least?
Light of Dawn - feels useless in 10 mans. I'd prefer to use my full holy power on a WOG w/ the chance to get a 2nd WOG for free. For 25's I'm sure it's just fine but with the trend of smaller guilds only running 10's I just don't like it very much.

Hand of Salvation - Unless you've got a horrible tank, salvation is rarely needed.

The rest of my spells I use on a regular basis.

What type of content do you focus on? [PvE/PvP/Both]

Both, my prime focus is semi-hardcore raiding but I enjoy and work hard on my RBG rating.

If PvE, what type of PvE? [Heroics/Raids/Other]

Raiding is my primary focus

If PvP, what type of PvP? [Arenas, BGs, Rated BGs]

Rated BGs.

What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? For instance, no longer requiring ammo could be considered a quality-of-life improvement for hunters.

1) As prot, I'd like to have hit and expertise matter more. Right now, it only matters for the first SWING of a fight. If i divine plea off the pull, I try for a quick Sacred Duty proc and then hit ShotR. It's usually enough to hold me on threat if anything lands in the first 6s of the pull. That being said, it's not FUN to see your attacks miss or be avoided.

2) As Ret, I'd like to see a quick way to get inquisition up. If you don't get a quick proc for DP, you wind up sitting there for 12-15s waiting to get inquisition up. Then you have to dig into your rotation for real.

3) Also, the clunkiness of timing your cooldowns can be really awkard in my opinion. 3 cooldowns, that should be popped together and are someone dependent on each other. I don't think the spells are very intuitive in the order they need to be cast. I've spent alot of time talking to ret paladins that throw up wings, forget zealotry and cast GotAK at random intervals.

4) I'd like something else to do with Holy Power as holy. In PVP, there is ONLY WoG to use. LoD is relatively useless, even in RBGs... maybe some offensive ability you can use with 3 HP, so you're choosing between healing and offense with your resource.

What makes playing your class more fun?

Unlike a lot of feedback, I actually enjoy the holy power system. I think the system added some depth and an extra level of game play that was missing all through wrath. Pulling

What makes playing your class less fun?

As a whole, the thing that makes the class very little fun is the rollcoaster ride that seems to come along with playing a paladin. From all accounts (before I'm playing), every expansion brings a sweeping change to the class. Some of those changes have been for the better, but many have just caused aggravation as we're forced to learn a new way to play that doesn't match the previous playstyle. I feel this also accounts for alot of the "mistakes" i see made in random BGs and heroics.

How do you feel about your “rotation”?

For both Ret and Prot I'd like to see the removal of holy wrath from single target rotation. I think you'll see this feedback alot, as the meteor of mediocre damage is thoroughly bland when you cast it. I actually quite enjoy it as a utility spell. Being able to stun sons of flame in a hurry on Ragnaros and save the raid is really nice... but the damage it deals, especially when split, makes it feel like a waste of a GCD in a rotation. Especially as a tank, in a world where threat doesn't matter, I just cast it to be pushing a button not because it matters. I'd like to see it removed from Prot rotation completely and moved firmly into the category of utility/aoe. For ret, it'd be nice to have another single target SOMETHING to fill this void.

What’s on your wish list for your class?

In PVP, as a holy paladin, I'd like a bit better offensive utility and control. We're so easy to chain CC and our partners are very likely to die from it, but we also don't bring a lot of offensive support. This makes 2s very hard, and sometimes even 3s. When compared with our healing counterparts, our weak control seems to feel very limiting.

I also feel like Holy Paladin mastery missed the mark, especially in PVE. It does provide some nice support on healing damage but it doesn't FEEL like it's useful. Most paladins seem to ignore it, because it just doesn't feel like it makes a difference. I'm sure your designers are aware that even the most epic mastery would fail if it didn't appear to matter. I don't have any strong ideas on what to change here, but the mastery needs to be rethought in the long term. Especially when it's stacked up against 2 very strong masteries from the other 2 trees of the class.

For Ret I'd like to see more consistent damage. The recent censure fix addressed a small part of the issue with ret sustained damage, but they're still far too reliant on burst windows for the bulk of their damage. I think everyone agrees the reliance on divine purpose procs can sometimes be a frustrating experience. In PVE, I also find the initial start up of a ret paladin to be somewhat clunky and awkward... trying to get all your cooldowns up properly can be a chore and getting inquisition up early can also sometimes be slow for something that is so important maintain to keep your damage high.

Managing Holy Power through different class specializations. Rotation cooldowns.

■What makes playing your class more fun?

I enjoy my Paladin the most due to playing all three roles and enjoying all three. I enjoy Protection overall.

■What makes playing your class less fun?

Retributions unstable damage with procs, slow, and I don't feel up to par with other classes, although perfecting rotation.

■How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)
With protection and retribution, both rotation feel comfortable. Retribution without procs can be a wait for damage, and can feel slow. Protection feels good, yet very simple.

■What’s on your wish list for your class?

Although the Seal of Righteouness buff was very significant for me at least for AoE, I don't enjoy taking out the 4th target before the other 3 attackers (with TV) then swapping to single target. Redesigning Holy Wrath (For Ret) as an equal "Templar's Verdict AoE" based off of Holy Power for a kind of Holy Explosion with dmg based from 1 , 2 , 3 Holy Power would be nice for ret at least. Also ret with more of a stabalized damage, or a shorter cd on Crusader Strike.

What type of content do you focus on? [PvE/PvP/Both]
- PvE (Holy, some prot). Very little PvP (Ret)
If PvE, what type of PvE? [Heroics/Raids/Other]
- Raids, with some heroic modes.
If PvP, what type of PvP? [Arenas, BGs, Rated BGs]
- Arenas, what little I do of them.
What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? For instance, no longer requiring ammo could be considered a quality-of-life improvement for hunters.
- Slow Holy Power generation for AoE healing, mastery being very very bad(if that fits in this category)
What makes playing your class more fun?
- Very big numbers from Divine Light. The somewhat active mana regeneration style of Judgement, and to a lesser extent melees with Seal of Insight.
What makes playing your class less fun?
(Holy) - Inability to AoE heal. No scaling mana regeneration from SoInsight.
(Prot) - The cooldown on Word of Glory(as prot)
How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)
(Holy) - Perfectly fine, it all fits very well together for single target healing.
(Prot) - After the initial rush to out-threat high burst classes, fine.
What’s on your wish list for your class?
(Holy) - Some way to build Holy Power quickly for Light of Dawn, perhaps a Zealotry style cooldown, maybe have it increase the mana cost of Holy Shock, have no cooldown(forgot that bit) but allow it to grant 3 Holy Power, and reduce the healing done by Word of Glory, 30ish second cooldown maybe. Scaling mana return from Seal of Insight.
(Prot) - Reduced/removed CD on WoG, or some way to bank Holy Power to make it hit bigger.
What spells do you use the least?
- Seal of Justice, Turn Evil.

Love this idea btw, granted the things that everyone seems to dislike are taken into account, I hope this helps the design team improve the game, and isn't too much of a headache for the CM's and GM's

Oh yea, something I forgot, perhaps make Divine Plea always proc Sacred Duty, to allow for better burst threat, most of the time its not an issue, so not that big of a deal, but it would be kinda nice since you seem to be moving away from the threat game.

PvE

  • If PvE, what type of PvE? [Heroics/Raids/Other]

  • What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? For instance, no longer requiring ammo could be considered a quality-of-life improvement for hunters.

Inquisition is annoying and clunky. When I say "clunky" I mean that it is ideal to have it up before you begin stacking Censure, but that's impossible unless you start with Seal of Righteousness. Further, this conflicts with pre-use of potions and other abilities.

Too much damage comes from low-percentage procs. 20% here, 15% there. It's almost as bad as Seal of Casino used to be.

Retribution Paladins have little incentive to acquire critical rating as Warriors do, nor do they have high proc-rate talents which grant guaranteed critical strikes like Frost Death Knights. That would be fine except you made all the Strength melee trinkets in this tier proc from critical strikes.

Holy power acquisition is slow, and made slower by the earlier "fix" that meant Crusader Strike could no longer afford to be parried. On many encounters, you cannot avoid being parried. Ret Paladins are overly punished for being parried compared to Rogues, Death Knights, and Druids.

  • What makes playing your class more fun?

When both of my cooldowns are up and I actually feel effective.

  • What makes playing your class less fun?

Dependence on chance-on-hit talents, weak filler attacks only used for buffs and proc-fishing, times when I have nothing to do between Crusader Strikes because I have no procs up and not enough Holy Power.

  • How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)

Feels sluggish and random outside of Zealotry. Inside Zealotry, feels wasteful when Divine Purpose procs repeatedly. Sanctity of Battle doesn't help enough, stacking haste isn't worth it over other stats and it's not possible to get enough haste rating to really make the talent work anyway.

  • What’s on your wish list for your class?

Better scaling with secondary combat ratings, moving away from cooldown and proc reliance.

  • What spells do you use the least?

Consecration - even when dealing damage to four or more enemies, this spell deals too little damage for too much mana. As a filler on boss encounters, I often wonder if I wouldn't have been better off hard-casting an Exorcism between swings.

Holy Wrath - cooldown is too long for what this spell does, even with the glyph; mana cost is obscene. The damage on a single foe is pathetic as well, especially for a "meteor" effect. We're taught that meteors are bad mojo and you don't want to stand alone when facing an enemy that casts them, but when you give one to players, it hits like a wet noodle.

Seal of Justice - just delete this and give us a real snare, please. There are a lot of encounters where a snare, especially an AoE one, would really help but we don't even have a single target one. Moreover, SoJ doesn't work on Resto Shamans and Druids in PvP anymore, anyway because of the dispel changes, so its existence is pretty pointless.

[EDIT]
And how could I forget Retribution Aura? I never use this even when I'm solo, the damage it deals just isn't commensurate with the mitigation lost by switching away from Devotion or Resistance Aura. I'd like to see a real offensive aura option, even if you have to bring back Sanctity Aura and make it into a clone of the Ele Shaman/Demo Warlock buff. I wouldn't mind seeing something like Marshal Maxwell's Celerity Aura (+melee haste) or even Lt General Andorov's Aura of Command (+spell haste, minor HoT), either.

As a holy paladin I cant seem to find any quality of life issues since there is now a 5 minute timer on beacon of light.

-What makes playing your class more fun?
Being able to press diffrent buttons. Right now I feel holy paladins are in a good place playstyle wise, it isnt wrath where we spam holy light (Although holy light is still our most used heal but it isnt the big heal anymore)

-What makes playing your class less fun?
Spamming one button, and one thing i really do not enjoy is having lack of mobility (Specifcally as a healer) to fix the range gap sometimes although we have HR and our mini-bubble to speed up it isnt always worth wasting a CD.

-How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)
Right now our healing "rotation" is pretty nice, although it can get a little bit boring during AoE damage because our HR has a CD, and you dont always have HP during AoE phases due to healing tanks with WoG so we just sit their and dont change our rotation unless we really have to FoL tanks for HP and use LoD with no other option but death.

-What’s on your wish list for your class?
Better AoE healing. If not even for bigger numbers during AoE healing fights, but to be able to change our rotation based on AoE more. HR has no cast and HoT the raid, takes no real skill to use other then people being stacked.

-What spells do you use the least?
The spell I probablly use the least varys per fight. Sometimes there just isnt enough tank healing to use DL or everyone executes a fight properly and never have to use FoL.

What type of content do you focus on? [PvE/PvP/Both]

Not currently playing, if I was it would be PvE, Holy Paladin. I feel cut off from PvP because my second spec has to be ret to do daily quests.

If PvE, what type of PvE? [Heroics/Raids/Other]

Heroic dungeons are my favorite /Some Raids/Daily quests

If PvP, what type of PvP? [Arenas, BGs, Rated BGs]

BGs.

What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? For instance, no longer requiring ammo could be considered a quality-of-life improvement for hunters.

The aiming of light of dawn is a little hit or miss, since you basically have to guess if it will hit people or not.

Not sure this counts as a quality of life issue, but the graphics of holy paladin spells are boring and in some cases obviously copied from other classes (ex. word of glory, divine illumination). Guardian of Ancient Kings, for holy paladins, screaming when he heals, sounds a little ridiculous.

What makes playing your class more fun?

Utility spells. Divine Protection getting a speed boost was fun. Using Aura Mastery to boost Crusader Aura was fun. Unique, secondary effects like the paladin mastery are also a fun boost to the holy paladin.

What makes playing your class less fun?

Limitation. In PvE, holy paladins heal. Straight, single-target, direct healing. We have a bunch of different spells for it, but they basically all do the same thing. We have a bunch of utility spells, but not a lot of places where using them really makes a difference or where the difference is noticeable. Our AoE healing is not compelling.

Beacon of Light. I just don't like this spell. I think it's too powerful and too much emphasis is placed on it. It is the cause of many counter-intuitive playstyle mechanics, many of which have to be fixed by the devs such as "never heal your beacon target to maximize hps." It was introduced as a holy paladin aoe healing solution and now in catalcysm it has tons of exceptions and special rules to prevent it from being overpowered. It didn't work as an aoe solution, and it doesn't work now to make the holy paladin playstyle more fun.

Also, visually, holy paladins are terrible. Most of our spell graphics are copied from priests, and others look the same as each other. As a holy paladin I have very few graphical effects that really make me say, "wow!"

How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)

When cataclysm first started having a rotation for our healing spells was fun I'm not sure how it's doing now. I don't like how holy shock feels like less of a healing spell, and more like a button you press on cooldown that powers up all of our other spells. Also our aoe healing "rotation" is non-existent and consists of waiting for long cooldowns.

Holy Paladin damage "rotation." I know Holy Paladin is a healing class, but our damage rotation for use during daily quests and the like is exceptionally boring and doesn't make any sense. Spamming exorcism is the best damage a holy paladin can do, which ignores all of our other damaging spells and melee abilities.

What’s on your wish list for your class?

The removal of Beacon of Light and in it's place a holy paladin staple aoe heal, the spell the paladin turns to when they are assigned to take care of the raid healing for the night or their 5-person group is getting pounded with aoe damage.

A look at PvE holy paladin damage. Buff crusader strike and holy shock and create an actual damage rotation for holy paladins that works for PvE questing, but doesn't change PvP too much. Buffing Inquisition, for holy paladins might be a way to do that or maybe letting holy paladins do a little more melee "white" damage. Priests already do ranged, magic holy damage; doesn't it make more sense to distinguish the holy paladin by allowing them to do magic damage in melee range?

A graphical overhaul for paladin spells. Different, new effects for our heals especially word of glory, divine light, and flash of light. Divine Favor is an awesome self-buff for holy paladins, which basically screams, "it's go time!" but it's graphical effect is practically non-existent.

What spells do you use the least?

Quality of life is actually pretty good in my opinion. Keeping seals after death would be nice, but that is a minor complaint.

What makes playing your class more fun?
I have just always liked the Paladin, even before World of Warcraft came out. I enjoy using a big sword to kill things while still being able to help other people with buffs and heals. I really like the support this class has always brought.

Being incredibly easy to crowd control in PvP.

How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)
I really do not enjoy my current rotation as a Retribution Paladin. It feels too clunky and random, with a lot of wait time other than Crusader Strikes for a bit, and then so many procs 10 seconds later that it starts throwing off my rotation.

What’s on your wish list for your class?
A snare, better Retribution rotation, more stable dps overall, better Holy Power generation/management, and a purple/pink unicorn mount that craps sparkles while flying for my class mount.

What spells do you use the least?
Consecration (too expensive), Retribution Aura, and Seal of Justice (lol slow).

As a note, I do also heal and tank quite often, but I feel I should leave that feedback to people with more experience.

  • What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? For instance, no longer requiring ammo could be considered a quality-of-life improvement for hunters.

  • - Lay on hands having too long of a cooldown.
    - Some sort of talented spell pushback reduction. Most PvE fights, I need the resistance aura for the aoe damage, so I can't get both that and concentration. (Ex Twin Dragons)
    - Duration of Aura mastery, specifically with resistance aura having a longer duration. With the give or take with boss ability timing, it's incredibly hard to time it on some encounters. (Ex: Maloriak)
  • What makes playing your class more fun?

  • - Having an active role in my mana management.
    - Plate armor and mitigation even as holy.
    - Big heals
  • What makes playing your class less fun?

  • - Lack of sufficient raid healing toolbox with too much raid healing tied up in one spell (holy radiance).
    - Weak and incredibly situational 31st point in the holy tree (LoD).
    - Tower of Radiance being an incredibly situation and weak return for the investment and location in the tree.
    - Lack of ways to generate holy power with the majority tied into a weak heal (HS).
  • How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)

  • - Choosing between 4 spells as holy does start having it's drawbacks, especially when 3 of those are just standard single target heals.
  • What’s on your wish list for your class?

  • - Another way to generate holy power as holy such that times of large damage, I'm actually generating holy power outside of holy shock.
    - A redesign on Tower of Radiance or have it moved from it's current location in the tree and put in something new. It's just really annoying that any spell we cast either negates our BoL or negates our ToR talent points. It just feels wasted, especially since I'm investing 3 points into ToR for such a bad return.
    - Mastery being more interesting to our healing. With two of our primary throughput generators (BoL and HR) not being effected by mastery at all, it becomes a very dull stat despite it's throughput on the spells it does work on. If BoL and HR become less core to our throughput (<50%), then mastery becomes more interesting because it's actually effecting more of our healing.
    - Nature resist being added to our resist aura.
  • What spells do you use the least?

  • - Inquisition - Thanks for the new spell this expansion, oh wait, it does absolutely nothing for holy paladins.
    - Hand of Salvation - I haven't used it since Wrath.

I could probably add on more, but this is just the first pass for me.

What type of content do you focus on? PvE mostly

If PvE, what type of PvE? heroics and raids

If PvP, what type of PvP? battleground, world pvp

What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? having a toolkit that helps paladins w/e spec they are. Guardian of ancient kings was a disappointing in that it is a glorified talent spell that takes up a slot in the generic paladin spell book. certain seals and hands become useless.

What makes playing your class more fun? Being a combat fighter that is able to switch gears. One of the most fun experiences as a paladin was back in oldwow where I was left with the challenge of healing the group in a 5man or wiping; so I throw out heals when needed and we survived the boss encounter.

What makes playing your class less fun? pvp- it is very frustrating trying to fight certain classes (frost mages) where I'm virtually unable to close the gap and/or deal damage effectively.

How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.) clunky and non complimentry. As you blow zealotry and/or avenging wrath, your rotation becomes cluttered; it gets even worse with procs occuring.

What’s on your wish list for your class?
    1. change holy wrath/ re implement blinding shield spell mechanic (fold it into holy wrath?)
    2. revamp zealotry
    3. replace the lost divine intervention spell with a new cool raid saver mechanic (dks never should have gotten battle ressurection, but maybe paladins can get something interesting)
4.make repentence baseline and unique from other CC effects (a pacifying effect that counts as magic)
    5. update auras (+new pulsing aura graphics?); atm auras are very passive, and a lot of the times not something a paladin consciously bothers to think about (how many times does a paladin forget to switch out of crusader aura for combat?)

What spells do you use the least?(in order of what I use the least) 1.hand of sacrifice, 2. turn evil, 3.hand of freedom, 4.divine plea (as ret or prot), 5. holy wrath

What type of content do you focus on? [PvE/PvP/Both]
    * Both, but not so much PvP anymore simply because of how weak I feel.

If PvE, what type of PvE? [Heroics/Raids/Other]
    * Heroics. I would like to raid, but as a tank who has never raided it's very difficult to get into any raid, and if I did I would be berated out for not knowing the fights.

If PvP, what type of PvP? [Arenas, BGs, Rated BGs]
    * I struggle through arenas for my conquest cap and I used to BG, but now very rarely.

What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? For instance, no longer requiring ammo could be considered a quality-of-life improvement for hunters.
    * Prot
Personally in Prot, I feel TOO AoE centered. With the new threat buff this isn't too much of an issue as before, but when I was in heroics and we had a few mobs cc'd I found it pretty difficult to hold threat on the mobs that weren't cc'd without breaking the cc on the other mobs. Don't know if it was just me, but that was my issue with Prot, although like I said, it's not too bad now with the threat buff, although I do find I'm standing around auto-attacking a lot.
    * Ret
I think I'd have to agree with almost every single ret paladin. It's way too proc centered. Our spec is entirely RNG based, and in PvP I just can't deal with that. I mean, I need to be auto-attacking to proc and lets tell ourselves the truth, when you're in an arena, there's rarely a chance where you can just stand there auto-attacking your target. It's entirely RNG, and not only that but crusader strike is the only ability that gives holy power (besides divine storm, but there's rarely a reason to use that in pvp).

What makes playing your class more fun?
    *Ret
I guess, like everyone who plays wow, i'll admit that winning is fun. And that doesn't mean being OP, but at least standing a chance against your opponent. If I could have a matched opponent, and battle for a while and I lose, at least I fought well and had some fun trying to overcome them instead of dying in a matter of seconds. I like being in control of my abilities and not so much having a set rotation, but not relying on bursts of damage and procs for me to actually do damage to another class.
    * Prot
What makes playing my class fun in prot is having the control over the situation. I'm the tank which makes me sort of the leader, and I enjoy that role greatly. I feel that overall tanking is where it should be at the moment, although I would enjoy the game a lot more if I could advance in it (gain more gear), which at the moment I feel as though I can't without raid experience.

What makes playing your class less fun?
    * Ret
Everything being messy, out of control, and completely RNG/Holy Power based, as I've aforementioned. Also, getting Wings/HoF/GoAK purged/dispelled/stolen is really annoying.
    * Prot
The only thing that makes Prot less fun is that I'm feeling more and more like I'm going to have to regear either ret or holy, or completely reroll to raid. I've never done a raid before, old or new, on any toon. My paladin is infact my only 85, and I only began playing just before cata came out. I'm feeling like I have no solution but to reroll to experience any of the cata raids before new content comes out and it gets nerfed, because groups just won't take a tank with no experience. No one wants to spend their time teaching sometime the ropes. Not really something Blizzard can fix, but more of a community issue of people just wanting to get what the have to get done as fast as possible.

How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)
    * Ret
The rotation is definitely too clunky, all over the place and RNG based. I have to land some decent auto-attacks to proc anything and even then I need holy power, my cooldowns to be up and whatnot. It's just too uncontrolled.
    * Prot
I feel my rotation in Prot is fine and where it should be, but what could add a bit more fun is possibly a new ability to fill in the gaps of auto-attacking.

What’s on your wish list for your class?
    * Ret
My wishlist for Ret is a complete change, I don't really like at all where it's at and feel weak in both PvE and PvP. Too many long cooldowns, RNG procs and auto-attacking.
    * Prot
My wishlist for Prot is probably just a new ability to fill in the gaps of auto-attacking

What spells do you use the least?
    * Ret
Consecration, Seal of Justice, Holy Wrath, Divine Storm
    * Prot
Righteous Defense, I find myself using Holy Wrath as a last resort because I have nothing else to use, oh and Devotion/Ret Aura, at low level they're great, but at 85 they're pretty much useless to me.

Thanks heaps for this opportunity Nethaera, a really great idea doing this :)

What type of content do you focus on? [PvE/PvP/Both]
PVE primarily, but I do participate in casual PVP. (Primarily as Retribution)

If PvE, what type of PvE? [Heroics/Raids/Other]
    Raids. (Primarily as Retribution)

If PvP, what type of PvP? [Arenas, BGs, Rated BGs]
Casual Arena and BGs. (Primarily as Retribution)

What are your biggest quality-of-life issues? For instance, no longer requiring ammo could be considered a quality-of-life improvement for hunters.
Nothing really springs to mind here but if I had to say something then it would be Seal dancing taking a GCD, feels punishing to have to switch mid combat, same with auras although taking them off the GCD could lead to Aura Mastery abuse I suppose.

What makes playing your class more fun?

Primarily the lore (Really, really think removing class quests was a huge mistake.) behind it but that doesn't have much to do with class balance, I enjoy the feel of a Paladin, the mix of Melee and Magical abilities combined with the ability to heal(weak though it is) and protect/save my allies with utility spells. I enjoy having the ability to do my role well and compete with others.

What makes playing your class less fun?
Huge reliance on DPS CD's to get anything done as Retribution, slow and painful Holy Power ramp up time, having near useless abilities in the rotation (such as Holy Wrath which is only used for Divine Purpose Procs and Consecration) and the stigma Paladins (Retribution particularly) carry with them for being "bad" that was even perpetuated slightly by Blizzard themselves in Wrath with joke NPC's and such.

How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)
In a word clunky, joke what you will but that's what it is. You can sit there staring at your screen and praying for something, anything, to proc so you'll keep going and then at other times your screen will scream at you with all your procs at once and you'll loose DPS trying to manage it properly. It goes from one extreme to the other all on the whim of RNG. The Holy Power ramp up time is slow and punishing (God help you if you get parried due to a fight mechanic.) and CS just can't come off CD fast enough. Lowering the CD of Crusader Strike to a base three seconds or reworking Sanctity of Battle to provide a much larger benefit would be a huge step in making us feel like we "flow" properly. Back in Wrath during the Cata patch that changed our classes it was possible for players to achieve a three second CS on their own and it was lovely. Less clunk, more flow is basically what I'm saying here. On a related note I enjoy the Inquisition mechanic, it feels rewarding to me and shows how good you are at Retribution by how you manage it, and would like it to stay around.

What’s on your wish list for your class?
Top of the list is a three second Crusader Strike baseline or a vastly improved Sanctity of Battle, this is the single largest step that could be taken towards fixing our rotation. I just can't stress that enough. Other nice things would include Zealotry actually working with Divine Storm, there's no synergy there at the moment and Divine Storm getting it's HP generation requirement lowered to three targets so we actually get to see it more. Retribution has decent AoE but no solid cleaving ability, I miss seeing Divine Storm more often. For the PVP crowd returning Judgement of Justice to replace Seal of Justice would be a huge boon, also making the Long Arm speed buff stack with Pursuit of Justice would be handy. Holy Wrath and Consecration need some serious tuning to not feel nearly useless to Retribution.

What spells do you use the least?
Retribution Aura, it's so horrible it's not even funny, it didn't scale up for Wrath at all and it was pretty much a joke back then as well. This aura seriously needs some attention.

Consecration, for Retribution the mana cost often prevents us from even bothering and the return on the investment is very poor. It's used whenever mana permits but that's less often then most of us would like.

Seal of Justice, it's used by PVP Paladins when they're forced to do so but it's such a damage loss and so counteractive to it's own purpose (limiting movement speed of target, but having to catch said target to melee hit them to do it, /boggle) that it feels like a waste.

Honorable mention, Sense Undead, it's not used very much because it was removed. I miss it, added class flavor and was handy while leveling and with the removal of it's glyph it has no game balance affecting benefit.

I would like to be able to see which paladin is using which aura. Having an aura for nature damage, or coupling in nature damage resist to our current resist aura would be helpful. I know there is not too much nature resist going on in raids these days, but who knows what the future will hold? I also would like Divine Intervention to be put back. It felt really good to be able to save that one part member in order to prevent everyone from having to run back.

What makes playing your class more fun?
As holy, I like being able to keep focused on the tanks while being able to put out a bit of AoE healing when needed. As for ret, I really like when you can get on a good run of procs. It is fun to have to decide on the fly which procs I will utilize in order to maximize my dps.

What makes playing your class less fun?
I would say the downtime in the ret rotation, which I will go into detail on the next question. Also not having my mastery shield transfer to the target of my beacon is something I would like to see changed. At the moment, I have to beacon the tank I'm not assigned to healing in order to make full use of the shields. This reduces the usefulness of the Mastery stat which I would happy be using if it were more effective.

How do you feel about your “rotation”? (Rotation is the accepted order in which abilities are used to maximum efficiency.)
The downtime of the ret rotation is a problems. Many times I find myself with all my abilities on cooldown, and either sitting there or using other abilities just to fill the space (e.g. Hand of Salvation). I think a much more compelling style of play would be to have to make choices between which proc or which ability you will be using.
