Lag during raiding

I noticed that this last week, we were getting some pretty terrible lag while working on Rag.

Normally isn't that big of a deal, but when world of flames comes out and you freeze for 1-2 seconds it will kill a few people.

Is this encounter specific or has the other raiding guilds gotten these random pauses this week?

I lagged terribly bad last night on Rag during one of the Seeds. Not sure if it was indicative of the encounter or that my UI is no longer optimized for raiding.

A lot of other raiders in my guild lag on heroic Rag specifically every Tuesday. The rest of the week is usually fine. With the damage nerf engulfing flames usually won't kill you if you're topped off lol.

A lot of people in my raid (myself included) were having issues with recount causing a significant amount of video lag during the seeds/engulfing flames. My computer screen wasn't 'freezing', but my framerate was dropping from around 45fps to 5fps during those parts of phase 2. Idk if recount could have caused lag for you guys, but that addon is known to cause issues for some people during heroic rag.

@Kyrià

that is typical "my computer cant handle this many calculations" lag. just think of the 10 or 25 people, each hitting like 10-15 adds each, multiple times. healers having to spam aoe heals, so recount has to calculate all of that in a short period of time. essentially with a standard processor you are going to be lagging very badly. the addon is FINE, it does what it is suppose to do, but it is very CPU intense during certain phases in fights.

depending on the cpu and architecture, it could very well take 1-12 clock cycles per calculation, then the time to update the numbers in the memory, which will take even longer. there is the addition of damage to the total, the division for the dps, and division is very pricey compared to addition, specially if its with floating point. scale this to a 10 man or 25 man raid, and you got alot of calculations.

i suggest turning recount only to monitor yourself, or avoiding it completely unless you are running a quad-core, or a high end duo-core.
