Doomguard nerf confirmed.
Please blizzard, think carefully about how you handle this. The mastery bug obviously needs to be fixed, but demo needs to regain the equivalent damage to remain viable. Demo really can't afford any nerfs to dps. A smart way would be through incinerate, immolate and soulfire - which in turn will buff destro which needs a major DPS boost. |

They could have made Mastery only affect your demons and not your guardians. Would make sense if they itnend to keep the Lock 2pc in it's current state.
|
Awesome, my 10 minute cooldown does less damage than my felhunter... |
|
Eeyup. Definitely not sticking it out past this expansion if this one doesn't get compensated, because even with the 2pc this is going to gut Demo's viability completely.
Band aids bandaiding band aidery. It's getting old. |

It is highly plausible, and almost expected among the warlock community, that they will fix the triple dipping of mastery the doomguard benefits from on live.
We are all just waiting for the blues to confirm. |

He needs a nerf, although I would put the chances of him being nerfed into near uselessness without the tier bonus a lot greater than being nerfed to a state of balance.
This is of course, assuming that Demo would be rightly compensated elsewhere but I would tend to doubt that too. |

i actually like how demon is atm except for the fact of a long cooldown we have to deal with but with 2pc it seems fine till they redo the spec next xpac

Pets are bugged on the PTR. They aren't scaling from any of the master's stats. It probably affects guardians too. |

lies just tested my doomguard on a target dummy still crits for 90k solo
but felhunter does seem to be doing around half its dmg |

Nerfing the DG is fine by itself. They just need to compensate the damage. Having THAT much damage tied into a 10min cooldown is bad design to begin with and it appears Blizzard might be taking steps to rebalance out the damage.

I hope it is nerfed. I would rather be balanced else where. I like Demo but I hate how much of a YoYo I feel with my damage. If they don't compensate for us else where though I will really be pissed. They also need to make felguard our main pet. Tired of using felhunter for both my specs.

Warlocks should be happy with this. At least we're not balanced around a long cooldown anymore. And if this means we are actually going to get our nukes buffed, then the change is more than welcome.
Come on, with that 2-piece tier bonus, do you really expect the DG to stay as it is? |
Warlocks should be happy with this. At least we're not balanced around a long cooldown anymore. And if this means we are actually going to get our nukes buffed, then the change is more than welcome. I expect the same compensation we got for the blanket 13% nerf to our damage, and the change to ISF. |

if doomguard gets nerfed we need alot more than +13% dmg that we got taken away in 4.0

Been testing on the PTR, and my doomguard appears to be hitting between 39 and 48% less on average than live. It's most noticeable with chalice procced and necromantic focus at full stacks, which suggests it's the mastery scaling and not the base damage? In 4.3, we have fixed the bug that caused the Doomguard to benefit too much from mastery. We have buffed Demonology warlocks to compensate. Also note that we have not yet completed our balance adjustments for 4.3 so what you've seen in the patch notes are mostly of a mechanical nature. That said, we think balance is in a good place overall, so anyone expecting huge pendulum swings will probably be disappointed. |
