tome of light buff.

Community Manager
We didn’t actually buff Tome of Light per se. It was just twice as good as the tooltip said it was, and since we didn't think that a nerf was in order, we're just correcting the tooltip for 4.3. You guys shouldn't notice a change to Tome of Light.

You should notice a change to Holy Word: Serenity, though. As you know, that ability hasn't always benefited from the 25% crit bonus that it's supposed to get. It was a little tricky to figure out why that was happening, but we've gotten to the bottom of it. Holy Word: Serenity should be fixed for 4.3, so you should notice a change there.

Wait, "tooltip update"? Tome of Light has always been 30%, unless you're talking about the PTR.

What he's saying is that its really always been 60%, and the tooltip has just been wrong all this time.

The PTR change is not a buff therefore, just a tooltip correction. Sad panda.

I just tested and this is not accurate on live. Did this post mean that on the PTR you accidentally buffed Tome of Light, and then decided to just run with it and update the tooltip instead of revert the buff?

2/2 Tome of Light, Serenity has a 10.5 second cooldown. This is exactly 70% of its baseline 15 second cooldown. Sanctuary has a 28 second cooldown, which is 70% of its 40 second baseline cd.

On Live, the tooltip says 30% and the effect is 30%. So unless this post only referenced the PTR, players will see a change if this is becoming a 60% reduction.

Don't you guys think the tooltip thing is getting a little tired. How many tooltips exactly are incorrect still?

You need to see this from a different angle.
You know how much they say the community managers talks with the devs all the time?
And how the artists always talks with the programmers who writes the tools, who also talks with the desginers that takes most of the decisions?

Well, if you read that, you'll see it doesnt involve the Tooltip Writer Guy.
So they go around telling him how he's soo much out of the loop, without actually ever putting him in the loop. THAT is why tooltips are incorrect.

He's in the same boat as the Clam Stacking Designer, who is having a hard time and probably a depression with the lack of clams in recent expansions/patches.

Thinking about it, the Tooltip Writer may actually be part of the Battle Net Team. Everyone hates the battle net team :<

What's frustrating is when you see the potential for something cool and different completely ignored for whatever reason.

Chakra States and the Inner "States" are examples of things that could make for interesting healing mechanics for priests, but there would need to be a commitment to really building the specs around them and making into sort of dedicated "stances."

I haven't played holy in a while, but I for one would rather have 3 distinct Chakra buttons with appropriate (APPROPRIATE) mana costs associated rather than having the Chakra State determined by the spell I cast after Chakra. It would allow for less clunky chakra switching and you could really see some players shine as people that are versatile and able to switch roles on the fly by moving through the various states throughout a fight. As it is now, most players I know that play holy enter a state before the fight begins and just leave it alone because switching is too clunky and often not worth it.

I think some people in this thread really hit the nail on the head by identifying that it's not that this was a bad thing (even though it's kind of a moot point since it's a tooltip correction), but that there's a larger problem with kind of boring talent tree design.

On the PTR my HW:Serenity has a 6s cd and HW:Sanc has a 16s cd — much lower than on live. I assumed it was from buffed Tome of Light, but this is not the case? Were the cds on holy word spells just reduced all around? /confused

1. WTB clarification. Is the PTR buff not intended as Denae above pointed out?

2. Also what are your thoughts on the overall condition of Tome of Light? Why is it the only cooldown reduction talent in the game which reduces spell cooldowns specific to that tree only?

3. What are your thoughts on the Holy Tree overall with such talents as Surge of Light, Spirit of Redemption, Rapid Renewal, and so on?

Oh good, Holy Word: Serenity is fixed.
Now the REAL question, do they plan to fix Holy Word: Sanctuary?
Eh? Eh?
.....Please?
