Blizzard, you've crossed the line

No, I get that - and for the record, I don't LIKE that the pet can be sold. I do think it's a slippery slope, and do think it's the wrong direction for the game.

I just don't think it's quite "rioting in the streets" worthy.

Meh, that's what's popular with the kids these days.

Maybe you should suggest that they occupy Blizzcon?

One of two things, perhaps both, is evident from Blizzard lately. They're either using WoW as a test bed for how to run Titan or they're trying to put the nails into the WoW coffin so people will want to play Titan.

don't forget the blog that says we are going do it anyways

<a href="http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/3768752/Gold_Selling_Stance_and_Thoughts_on_the_Guardian_Cub-10_20_2011#blog">http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/3768752/Gold_Selling_Stance_and_Thoughts_on_the_Guardian_Cub-10_20_2011#blog</a>

They can do it anyway, but I won't be buying it either from the store or the AH. I can't guarantee the pet came from a legitimate source if it's off the AH and a $10 pet that doesn't get sent to all my characters is less value than the pets that do. Spending my gold to risk the pet being removed if it originally was bought with a stolen credit card costs me gold, a pet and my time. And this pet is not so OMGAWESOME to be worth $10 just for one.

My biggest problem with these pets is that when I buy a pet from the cash shop, I want them for all of my toons, not just one.

I say give us two buying options, one for the boe one, and one for the account wide pet.

After making their usual baseless claim about the origins of proportions of the sold gold, they said "we know it's not going to solve any problems, but we're gonna do it anyway", while simultaneously not addressing the other complaints about the value of the pet.

*sigh*

You would pay $100 for 2k gold?

I think it's more the principle of it.

Essentially Blizz is saying "DON'T BUY GOLD! ...unless you buy it from us..."

And by Necro you mean that no one had posted to it for a whole 10 hours?

Thread necromancy is measured in hours now? We need to be informed of changes like this.

here is 0% guarantee that if you buy a pet from the pet store and put on the AH for whatever price, that it will sell. You're taking a gamble on buying however many you buy to try and sell on the AH. If you buy too many and the demand on your server is too low. It will drive the prices of the pets down so that you at least try to make some gold off of your investment. It works in the opposite direction as well, if the demand outweighs the supply you can charge more for the pet up to a point where people are wiling to buy. (This is done in the real world every day) but:

The elasticity of the pet is affected by numerous factors.

a. people who collect vanity pets
b. people willing to pay the gold for vanity pets
c. amount of people with the gold to spend to affect pricing of said pet.
d. amount of players on a server

The reason it's affect wouldn't be noticeable is because you have a finite consumer base inside WoW. Even if there was a giant surge in demand eventually it that falls towards zero. That is why it's being done with pets and mounts instead of out right buying gold. There is a 0% guarantee you'll actually get gold. Where as if you buy gold outright it causes inflation just as if the government were to print more money.

If this was already addressed i'm sorry, I didn't read the entire thread. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Blizz mods (and I agree) would like to keep it to one thread (this one) over starting 50,000 threads on it.

that is why they upped the post count on this thread.
