Crash submitting non-personal information

My game crashes on startup during the submitting of the customer survey on startup. It was working smoothly last night.

I have a macpro 3.1 with a non-flashed radeon 6870 on macos 10.6.8. It's been humming along perfectly for months now. I'm aware of similar issues with users of starcraft 2 and have already tried the "443" fix with the retail survey prefs file.

Will i be forced to wait a week ? two weeks ? until patch 4.3 for the problem to solve itself ? Will i lose the large amounts of mail i still have hanging ?

Needless to say i'm not amused.

why 10.6.8? most of the hacks for the 6000 series card are for 10.7.2, they had been recommending even using the betas of 10.7.2 for the best support for 6000 series cards from what i read. also 6870 is not a high end model, it's about on par with the 5870 since the rebranding from ati to AMD changed the numbering scheme a little, it's the 69xx that's high end now, the 6870 is basically what the 5770 was of the previous generation. although i guess the low end 6870 was probalby much cheaper then 5870 would have been for same performance. But you're seeing the price for that now. as long as generic pc cards aren't officially supported by apple you're just asking for trouble.

In the meantime, instead of using "443", try using "453" in your ~/Libary/Preferences/com.blizzard.World of Warcraft.survey.prefs

Let us know which one if any work for you please Tarhoof.

None the above are helping me. I am getting a freeze upon doing "submitting non-personal system info" thing. Any ideas?

This only lasts for a day correct? So tomorrow I should be able to play no problem?

We turned the survey off . You should be able to login fine now.

I am still seeing the message "submitting non-personal system information" or whatever it is.

And it still freezes... Any more ideas?

Still can't log in even if you turned survey off. Where is this file info on PC? I don't have a mac and not being able to log in is annoying.

This post is referring to when they had activated the survey last week then turned it off..not the survey that was activated Monday..

Once you had to change survey preferences file to 443, then, 453... now 473 seems to work.

Please Blizzard, can you at least let us know what the middle byte even means?
Hackintosh users are NOT persons without technical knowledge, in contrary, we should be considered priority beta testers, we would not be scared to understand what we are doing by modifying this file. Feel free to answer me under NDA if needed.

Thank you since now.

I am having this exact same issue, however I'm not seeing the file/code that you guys are referencing at all. It's a bunch of lines of digits, but not that 3-digit code.
