Well...... I had hope.
I posted a thread appealing to the decency of the con-goers. I posted a thread asking Blizzard to stop treating Alliance as the "loser" faction of the game. Things looked up at the beginning of the con when Chris Metzen appeared to show equal appreciation for both factions (Alliance shirt)... I had even more hope when he outright stated that they fully intend to give the Alliance much stronger leadership, and giving Varian a much deeper personality. I got even more excited when I found out that Pandaren would be available to both factions. I had HOPED that Blizzard would be able to refrain from outright insulting half of their player base. But sadly, that was just too much to ask. The moment Samwise Didier came on stage with his little posse, my palm hit my face. I knew it was coming. It was only a matter of minutes. And just two songs in, he points to the screen and gleefully shows the lead "singer" of Cannibal Corpse in an interview. Let me quote what the freak in the video said: "I'm not playing man. World of warcraft is !@#$ing life for me. And I'm not playing no mother%^-*ing Alliance either. I don't play no !@#$ing Night Elves or %^-*ing gnomes. It's !@#$ing ORCS and Undead. %^-* the Alliance!! !@#$ing DIE, you %^-*ing emo *very long expletive*! Go back to your !@#$ing Alliance character and %^-*ing level him to 70. Stop going to the !@#$ing plateau ganking people! I'm trying to get MOTES OF AIR. I can't help it. When it comes to World of Warcraft, I'm a nerd. But I'm not ALLIANCE! I can tell you THAT MUCH!" I'm not exaggerating. There were actually that many profanities in the video. And then Samwise introduces him as "The Lead singer of Cannibal Corpse, and unofficial AMBASSADOR TO THE MIGHTY HORDE." And then later: "MAKE SOME NOISE, if you wussy Alliance can make some noise." You want my opinion? Samwise and his band should not be allowed to play at Blizzcon if they're going to act like this. Oh, and also: http://media.mmo-champion.com/images/news/2011/october/cupcakes.jpg I guess it's too much to ask for a little respect from Blizzard. But hey. WE'LL KEEP TRYING. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some more achievements to grind. |

It's funny. I play the Horde but would like to see some balance in terms of faction favour. And i think it was rediculous how verbal Samwise was. Good on Metzen for wearing that hoodie though.

Yeah, we should behead him for making fun of your fictional, online group of people.
Also, are we surprised that the singer from such a terrible band is also insane and takes this game way too seriously? Don't follow in his lead, yeah? |

You're aware that the president of the company is *also* in the band, yes? As much as I hate the phrase, it is what it is. I doubt that it's going to change and they're CERTAINLY not going to apologize. Save yourself some stress and either let it go, or get even ;) |

If factions meant anything outside this game, then yes, I would. But as it turns out, I don't get paid less or more depending on my faction. There's no special parking for certain factions. Nothing outside this game (keyword, game) is influenced by what faction I am. You mean those same people who paid money to be treated like dirt at a Blizzcon convention? Treated like dirt and being insulted are two different things. Being treated like dirt would be the same as being kept out of Blizzcon because you're Alliance, or you get beat up because you play a human instead of an orc. Again, the guy is insane. It was very poor taste of him to do that, and it probably has to do with him being confused on how he's supposed to sing and walk at the same time. But it's not the end of the world. And maybe I'm just tired of the forums, because every other post is a cry about either MoP or Alliance hate. |

Just let it go. Blizzcon has and always will be like this. Blizzard has encouraged it and continues to do so.
They obviously find homophobic slurs and Alliance bashing funny..as they called it a "joke". Let it go....it won't ever change. |

Why are you acting as if being alliance is part of your identity? How could you possibly write such a long post addressing something that is quite literally, not real and completely meaningless? People who actually care about this need a serious reality check. I mean, of all the crap to get mad at and stand up against in the world, you choose to get mad at Blizzard for having a little fun and poking fun at a fictional concept? You need a serious reality check.

So... Some people having a preference of Horde over Alliance is a bad thing now?
grow up. By the way, I play Alliance too. And I was not offended by anything at all. :3 |

1st, using such language that show which is being watched by 45 countries is ok? 2nd, if not acting as if being horde is part of life, why he using such word? 3rd, behind alliance is ppl who are playing. Don't tell me ppl have no feeling toward to their characters |

If factions meant anything outside this game, then yes, I would. Unless you went to Blizzcon or have heard what was said. He didn't make fun of a fictitious faction. We belong to that faction. People were there. He was making fun of real people in person. It does mean something outside the internet and it was brought outside the internet by Blizzard. Alienating and insulting your customers... any other person and company and he should be fired. |
