It is difficult to simply join a guild and get right on board with their core team without prior raiding experience. If anything, ensure that you've properly researched your class, spec, and the mechanics for the instances that you intend to raid within before applying for a guild. Watching Point of View videos made by players of your spec will help as well.
You may have better luck in a larger raiding guild that takes an alt run into raids. But bare in mind, they will judge your performance there. You will most likely be compared to both raid teams (core and alt), so you need to perform the best that you can. Who knows, maybe your performance gets so good that you end up replacing someone on the core team. (This happens a lot - believe me on this one.)
Best of luck.
In addition to greg, I would highly recommend finding a guild that has a lot of members that are active and do heroics on a regular basis, it'll help you get geared and more experienced quickly. Once you are geared through heroics, I would test the waters by trying Tier 11 content: Blackwing Descent, Bastion of Twilight, and Throne of the Four Winds.
Best of luck.
