Let's keep this thing rolling!

It was in the Lost City of Tol'Vir when I zoned in, almost immediately the stupid hunter pulled an entire mob of monsters and misdirected on me. Thankfully, I pulled a bubble on my self and got out of there in time. It happened three times with me dying once, before the stupid dps left when the tank and I reported them.
We had a shammy, druid, and some other class as dps which was smooth sailing from there.
I just got this one to 85 and I got a string of terrible heroic PUGs.
In one, it was a guild run + me. Two people in the run decided that they wanted to tank and they were both taking heavy damage. I asked them who was tanking, and they said, "DUH, PERSON A." And then they both continued to fight for agro and tank. This would have been OK on my (much) more geared pally, but as I'm sure we can all attest to, when you are just starting out in heroics at 85 this is not what you want to see.
As per usual, various DPS sitting in bad stuff. THERE'S PURPLE/GREEN/BLACK STUFF ON THE GROUND. MOVE.
Tanks not knowing what they are doing and not asking. No CC.
I love healing, but I felt like I needed a cigarette after last nights festivities.
PUG'd into a grim batol run earlier, and while i still at the front of the dungeon, i see a priest in group say 'Go' and dbm text starts flowing up on my screen.. Needless to say i shifted as quick as possible and got to the boss just in time to see the tank die (last person up)
So i went into douche mode and put 'This is why you don't listen to dps and let the heals find you guys before you pull the boss' which predictably irked the priest who told me they could outheal me any day. So i res the group, buff them up, and tell the preist he obviously did a bang up job of healing just, so we'd see.
Flawless fight later, and a snarky comment from the priest about it obviously being my pro-heals that made the difference. the priest deliberatelty agro's a group we were avoiding, and ninja's... My noob heals kept the group up through that too and we pug'd the deeps spot out and had a good run.
Just joined a ZG in progress for a goodie bag. I notice that they're at Zanzil. I ask what happened before I joined, and the tank says "FAIL HEALERS. Bad ones. REALLY BAD." I decide not to comment, and we pull the boss. Everyone grabbed the fire cauldron, which is no big deal, just gives me more to heal. The tank is getting hit like a truck, not avoiding fire very well. Nothing I can't handle, but it made me wonder just how bad the previous healer(s) had been. The Berserker comes out, targets me and I end up kiting him for awhile. Also, the fight seems to be taking a loooong time. Check Recount, and lo...dps isn't exactly phenomenal. We finish off the fight without any real issues, even though I had to blow my LoH on one of the dps that was getting hit by I don't even know what.
We get to Jin'Do and the tank tells the hunter to deal with the adds. At least they don't appear to be idiots, so I look forward to a painless fight. On a whim, I decided to inspect the tank. Itemization wasn't bad, gear level so-so but...wtf, no enchants? Most of his gear wasn't even enchanted. No wonder he's getting pounded. We go into the fight and dps is slow enough that we get 3 Shadows of Hakkar. Again, not really a big deal, but it worried me a little. Chains come out, people stand on them, they get broken. The hunter assigned to the adds is constantly spiking from 100% to about 10% because he's not avoiding or killing the ghosts very well. Suddenly, the warlock is getting pounded, the tank is getting pounded...what's going on here? All 3 chains were broken early, yet not ONE of them has been destroyed yet. Next thing I know, I'm being swarmed by ghosts. Tank dies (after a bubble sac), I die (after finishing off a chain with hammer + judgment), and the remaining dps are scampering around like nothing is happening. I had the final chain targeted and for a good 10 seconds, it wasn't losing any health. I finally yelled at them to destroy it, and somehow they manage to without dying.
Not the worst instance ever, but still kind of annoying. I think the previous healers weren't actually bad, they probably just weren't prepared to deal with the low dps output + non-enchanted tank.
I've had some other annoying heroics recently, too. I was in BRC on Karsh Steelbender. The tank moves him into the molten metal and then just...stands there. I thought maybe he was just being slow but, nope, he wanted to tank him under that molten metal and let the group eat the ever-increasing aoe damage. I'm a paladin, I can only do so much aoe healing before things get out of control. Thankfully, I had a nice boomkin in my group that saw what was going on and threw out his tranq. No one died, but it was a close call.
Again, in the same day, I had a bad experience with High Priestess Azil in the Stonecore. First, no one interrupted Force Grip. Woops. After that, I just hugged the boss and used my rebuke to save any further misery. After she retreated to her platform, the tank and 2 dps stand right where a boulder is being thrown. They die, of course. It's a wipe! I said in party chat to avoid standing in the wonky ground graphic. Second pull, guess who dies again? The tank. Luckily, the warrior in the group got the boss's attention and I was able to heal him until the fight was over. I asked the tank why he didn't move, and he told me he was focusing on my lifeline. I'm not sure why he was so concerned with my health. At least he cared, I guess?
What always scares me in heroics is when someone gets really excited over my gear. ESPECIALLY if it's the tank that's really excited. It's always a sure sign that stupidity and a lack of cd usage is going to follow.
I did have a nice ZA run, though. Little gnome warrior tank said he had been away from the game for awhile and that he was sorry about his gear. I inspect him and he's in 90% blues, but at least he enchanted/reforged/gemmed/itemized correctly. I had to use more cds than on a normal run, and his health spiked a lot (he only had about 3k more than I did), but we didn't wipe once. Little gnome was poppin cds like they were candy. I love tanks that know what they're doing. A lower ilvl is more than made up for with class knowledge. I'd take an undergeared, intelligent tank over an over-geared idiot tank any day.

Totally. The excitement is usually followed by, "Now we don't have to CC!!" Yes, yes, you do. I have the gear to heal through most stupid, but I probably won't.
Like a little while ago, I got in to a HThrones and the SPriest decided to set up camp in the green crap. So, I used a RT on them and they still didn't move. They died.
"You're meant to move out of that."
"You can heal through it."
"Right. I can. But I won't. Healing PUGS has turned me into a very jaded and bitter individual. I didn't sign up to hold your hand through this. I won't help you unless you help yourself. Next time, move."
The run after that was very smooth. No one stood in anything longer than they needed to.
Good for you. I've turned very bitter as well just sick of being blamed for others poor play that I rarely do pugs anymore at all.
I was in a SFK and had a fresh disc priest, bloodthirsty crafted and everything, lucky we have this amazing bear that did most of the work.
Boss Fight one the rogue correctly interrupts the first cast, pain and suffering we continue to dps, and then when he does stay of execution he interrupts it immediately, and because of that, the priest and the rogue die
WHO the F interrupted that? the rogue yells,
we eventually down the boss, (my lifedraining and healing thru haunt during his 20% phase)
rogue again asks who the F interrupted that execution?!
interrupts total *rogue* 2, 1 pain and suffering 1,stay of execution
the rogue goes lol, oops its ok, no big deal
2nd to last boss, the green light red light boss, the ret paladin decides his dps is more important than his life, so he stands still during green light phase,
inevitably he bites the dust in the last 5%.
Heals is at like 5% mana and struggling with poisons
before he is res'd. Healz? he asks,
the entire group comes to the defense of the priest, he shut up after that
I have been leveling a Holy Pally and a few nights ago my Priest was only a few JPs away from being able to purchase another BoA, so I decided to do a random Cata non-Zul Heroic and fully expected to zerg it since she's incredibly over-geared for those. Smite-healing ftw. I zoned in to a fresh H:Grim Batol run, inspected the group and saw that everyone was over-geared for the place. There was a Warrior tank, Rogue, and I can't remember the other 2 DPS. Yay, interrupts and an easy run! That never happens though...
The first couple trash pulls before you hop on the drakes to bomb the place went fine, however when we landed all of a sudden a trogg came running. We killed it and commented about wow, that's a first, never seen that before. THEN what seemed like the entire dungeon descended upon the group. Every bit of trash between the landing spot and where someone had managed to aggro the trogg had followed the trogg and absolutely destroyed us.
We all ran back in and commented about how that sucked, then continued to the next trash. Nobody used CC, I was silenced and bubbled by one of the mobs for like 5 seconds multiple times, so the tank died and we wiped again. 16k HPS
We ran back in and I said they need to interrupt that spell so I can cast heals, the tank pulled and nobody used CC again. When I was silenced for the first time nobody interrupted until I typed "int" in chat 3 times, then I was silenced a 2nd time and it took another "int" in chat to prompt an interrupt. We wiped again. 17k HPS
I said in chat "wow, I have never had to pull 16k-17k HPS on trash in this dungeon before." Nobody responded. As soon as I ran back in, I left party without another word.
Looking back, I think I might have been able to use EMFH to get out of 1 silence, so my bad on the first silences during each attempt, but for the 2nd and 3rd ones it would have been on cd. Really though, it's not that hard to interrupt, is it? I do it all the time on my low-level Pally while she's healing.
Later I queued for a random again and got Deadmines, did the first boss and left after I got my JPs. I don't normally do something like that, but I had some Pally leveling to get back to.
Oh and I have another story now from leveling that Pally. Got Escape from Durnholde a couple nights ago and an Int/Spirit shield dropped. The Prot Pally tank and I Needed on it and thankfully I won. He claimed my toon doesn't need a shield because she doesn't tank and throw it like he does and told me to trade it to him. I said dood I'm a Pally, I'm not giving it to you. He nerd-raged some more but I ignored it and we just finished the dungeon. I could have explained that he doesn't need Int/Spirit but I didn't feel like it. He was the type that wouldn't have accepted it even if I did explain.
I've seen that several times over the past month or so. I still don't know what causes it but sometimes after the bombing run a trogg will follow the party back to the dragons and sometimes (not always) he'll pull some of the groups with him. And sometimes an elemental will park itself near the entrance and still be linked to its group so that if you pull it you get that group and every group between here and there.
I have a good one from yesterday. I was leveling up a ret paladin in early cata dungeons when I ran into a healer/tank combo that had clearly queued together. The tank and I both needed on boe dps pants and fortunately I won them, but his healer friend tried to get me to give them to the tank. I wasn't having any of that and thankfully they didn't make an issue of it and we finished the instance. The tank spent a good deal of time eating dirt but I don't know if that was more his fault (in ulduar gear mostly) or the healer's. Either way, I get done, think "Glad that's over with." and queue again.
Queue pops and it's the same two guys with two new dps in BRC. We down Corla and she drops an agility trinket. No one needs it so the tank asks if he can. I'm puzzled and think maybe he's just new so I point out that it's worthless to him (warrior tank). He baldly states that he can use it to get his ilevel up so as to get into dungeons. I wasn't healing so I held my outrage in check, but I am astonished that his healer friend didn't reach through the computer and smack him.
Is it me or are there a massive amount of idiot dk's lately? Enter ZG, dk tank, dk dps. okay well tanks decently geared lets hope this goes well. Pick up cauldron, and we run to the bridge. As I'm running i noticed mr dk dps has no cauldron and obviously isn't running very fast dies before he's in range of me. *facepalm* We kill wasps, i res dk and he falls of the bridge *facepalm 2* Res'd again, and proceed. We get to the trash before the first boss, dk doesn't pick up the cauldron "yells in party chat, DK the cauldron" and he doesn't listen. I'm not wasting my mana on you anymore if your not going to listen and dies again *facepalm 3* Res'd after we kill snakes, and head into the first boss. Dk dies instantly, god only knows why, probably standing on the green lines *facepalm 4* as he yells wtf heals? i was like really? i put on a bubble on you and you were from full health to dead... /sigh i should have known when the tank had asked him to switch out of blood presence 6 times in the first 2 min and he couldn't figure out how to.
I agree, when i get yelled at now, i just macro "I don't heal stupid, deal with it or leave"
In the true words of Ron White (paraphrased) "You can heal wounds, but you can't heal stupid."
Also making some more macros when i get on.
So I did a troll heroic for a goodie bag (again) and things are fine, mostly. The tank gets hit like a truck and the melee like to stand in bad stuff, but it's healable. We wiped on the dragonhawk boss because the tank stood in the fire, but it's ok. When you're zerged by birds, I can see how it would be hard to notice something under you. We pull a 2nd time and kill the boss.
The tank ended up leaving shortly afterword because he was late to work, and we get a new one. New tank is easier to heal than the first, so I figure things will be fine.....WRONG. We're standing in front of Daakara and set up a rotation to deal with bear charges. Unfortunately, the two melee in the group decide to not stand out when required and we end up wiping. We do another pull and wipe on the eagle. Why? No one is killing lightning totems, the poor mage had died to a charge before the eagle, and I'm actually OOM due to the crazy amount of damage people are taking (I was pulling 16-20k hps at this point...). After we wipe, the tank ninja dc's and I decide to just respec and tank the darned thing myself. Again, the mage dies to a bear charge, the new healer is oom before we even GET the eagle (keep in mind I used DP, guardian and holy shield on cd) and everyone is really frustrated. We FINALLY kill the boss with me using my crappy prot WoG on dps when available, using every cd imaginable to make the healer's life easier, and being the only one to focus down lightning totems. We finish the fight with 2 dps dead, the oom healer and the lowest dps left alive. I ended up topping the meter with a measly 7k dps in my piecemeal o/s tank gear.
*tears hair out*
I'm starting to wonder if those goody bags have some sort of invisible bad luck totem. Everytime I queue for the bag I get appallingly bad groups. I mean people who have no clue about fight mechanics, their class and who apparently don't read chat. Whenever I queue with no bag I get groups that range from reasonable (healable with maybe a few bad moments or a couple of deaths) to great.
Well, the bag only pops when healing is the lowest numbered role in the queue, so maybe it's popping because all the other healers want to avoid the bad groups. Or maybe because all of the bad players play at that time, and they severely outnumber the healers.
85 Blood Elf Paladin
So, since I'm new to cata healing (and cata heroics in general) and I've been reading up on each instance before doing them one at a time.
So I zone into Heroic GB, and I let my group know it's my first time. Bear Tank, two Mages from the same guild, and a ret pally.
No CC was used. Nobody was interrupting. Everyone was taking so much damage from the trash. Everything was dying so slow. Tank had the highest dps at 10k. Ret pally had a wopping 4.5k.
We manage to make it to the first boss, and all the dps decide to completely ignore the purple trogg. Wipe.
Second attempt, I was a little bit slow getting out of a ground siege. My health is nearly wiped out, and a trogg finishes me off before I can bubble. Wipe.
Third attempt was much like the first. Nobody does anything about the purple trogg. Wipe.
Fourth attempt, Smooth kill finally. DPS handle the purple trogg, and nobody stands in anything they shouldn't.
A group of mobs later, the tank goes "brb." Ten minutes later the vote kick pops up to kick the still afk tank. It goes through, and the 4.7k (He improved!) ret pally leaves. We get a warrior tank and a rogue.
Forgemaster is pulled, and the kill goes okay. Hard to keep up with the healing at times, but no one died.
Tank leaves. He stayed for exactly one group of mobs and the boss before he left without a word.
We get another Druid tank and things go smoothly. We skip Drahga, and continue on. One of the mages goes afk, and while we wait, the rogue decides to sap a mob. The tank asks him not to, since it will just make things easier for him. This apparently pisses off the rogue, who while the mage is still afk, decides to pull two groups of mobs and leave group. Get another dps immediately, and we... somehow survive. I'm guessing it had more to do with the tank than with me.
We continue on to Erudax, and... proceed to have the smoothest kill ever. He wend down REALLY slowly, but the adds were taken care of and nobody stood in stupid !@#$. I finish the fight with nearly full mana.
For an instance that started off so badly, it had an awesome ending.
One of my worst healing expirirences was healing for my guilds group3 in FL.
I was going to tank it, but we couldnt find a 2nd healer so I switched to healer because a buddy of mine said he had a warrior toon that could tank.
Now I knew that his warrior toon had only been 85 for 2-3 weeks, but for the last week+ he'd been talking about how he was gearing up his warrior for tanking FL and how he could do it.
So I decided to give him a shot since we needed either a healer of a tank and I was having trouble finding one.
He switches toons from one of his dps to his warrior and gets invited to group and gets up to FL. First thing is I see his health is at like 142.4k. I think that was unbuffed but it might even have been with kings or Commanding shout up already.
I look at his gear and nothing is enchanted at all or reforged. Hes in a green dps helm without a meta gem. He has lvl 316 and lvl 333 trinkets. And the rest of his gear is a mix of lvl 353 with a few 359 items and a lvl 346 or 2 in there just for good measure.
Now right there and then I was gonna tell him no. But the assistant GM was also in the raid group on a toon and was my assistant RL. (im just a veteran in the guld, but I lead raids a bit). And so I was asking the assistant GM about kicking him and he didnt really support me. Also the guy was a buddy of mine and his feelings get hurt easily.
So I decided to let him tank it on his warrior and Id just heal my !@# off. So the MT is a DK (IL 365ish and pretty good but not amazing) and were 2 healing it (me and a druid, who isnt ok but also not great).
Now ive done FL with some pretty scrub groups, but this one was the worst by far.
Ive never struggled that hard to heal a tank, or seen a tank take that much dmg before.
And most of the time I couldnt keep him up, he was just so bad. We ended up only gettin 4 bosses down, and he only tanked for 1.5 of them. He came on a different toon for ryalith because we only need 1 tank for that fight, He died in 1st phase for Ally, and the other tank picked up both of the birds. He tanked for Shannox and we did ok on that fight. And for beth we actually were able to find another tank to take his place , after 5 wipes or so.
That tank just took so much bloody dmg. He also didnt really seam to know how to play his class very well. He used his CDs some but not enough, nor all of them. And he wouldnt use about half of his abilities. I also have a warrior tank (not geared very well but better than his) and so I know how to play a warrior. On allys his dps was about 15k lower than the DKs, he didnt use HS once and was using Cleave, he also only used SS 5 times. After several wipes we were able to get her down with the DK tanking both birds, after the warrior died in the 1st minute of the fight.
now Im not the greatest healer (at least not on this toon) but I was cranking out around 20k+ hps per fight and poping my CDs and I still couldnt keep him up. And I was mostly healing only him directly and had beacon on other tank. i did almost no raid healing because the tanks needed so much heals so I just left the raid to the druid. I also out healed the druid by a solid amount on every boss fight.
If I had Known going into that raid how painful it was gonna be I would not have started it. I thought my guild had more players with more decent toons. This was our group 3, but still, it was terrible.
and so that is my rant. This happened over a week ago, but reading this posts just remined me of that and so I wanted to hash it out so as to remind myself to neer do that again. Its better to hurt someones feelings, than to have to put up with that much suckdom.
