The original pre-release list created by SiN. It was where all the well-known PvP guilds in MMOs began (although many on the list were made on the spot and were kinda bad). I am sure some of you were here back then. For those that were, who do you remember? WHo had the best group of guilds at that time?

I wish I could give them credit too, but this was the list circulated at the time. :) Because Archimonde's server meltdown the first week, some of these guilds didn't even make it here. |

KAAOS is the oldest gaming guild in existance, starting in 1992 in NWN on AOL. The second oldest on the list is House Forsaken, 1996. We started with the release of Blizzard's Battle.net and Diablo 1.
One guild who was NOT put on the list and should have been was clearly KOA. House Forsaken had run-ins with KOA in Shadowbane and they had a storied history before WoW in multiple other MMOs. I remember coordinating with many of the guilds on this for release. I talked to guild leaders and we discussed various plans, how each would approach it. Certainly was a lot of fun. |

TheBalance was another one that should have been on the list.

Was TheBalance started pre-wow? I didn't know that.

Hmm.. I always figured Corporation to have been pre-WoW, but that was just my assumption. But yeah, I remember almost all of them, and House Forsaken was actually my first Guild :)
New Dawn played Star Wars Galaxies which came out before WoW, but I'm not certain if they started PLAYING SW:G before WoW. All hail Triumphius, King of BRM! |

Some guilds came after with Archimonde being an after-thought. They basically just picked a server. The list was compiled by SiN through the use of the larger beta guilds and those who communicated with them at the time of their intent.
Our biggest reasoning for picking a central server was that we had dozens of players on the East coast and dozens on the west coast. It was funny that there were some upset people that guilds had to choose. Little did they know most of the Pacific servers were not on the West coast anyway... lol. |

They might not have "picked" the server, but Fist of the Empire was pre-WoW I'm almost certain.
Corporation definitely was. I was in Bunny Rabbits for awhile on my Mage. |

The Triumphus thing was a running joke, btw. |

Corp started in Asheron's Call.
Then Masonry and I with a few others moved to Asheron's Call 2 which turned out to be a flop. Then just Masonry and I moved to Lineage 2.. which turned out no one in the U.S. played... but it was a fun game and the PvP kicked ass. Then Corp came to WoW. Now some of them started playing Star Wars and Skyrim I think. Not sure though. I don't really talk to any of them much anymore. Faxis, Stuckmojo, Masonry.. they all hang out on their own forums. www.lair-x.com |
