world marker commands?

There are now commands for world markers & unit markers.

Does that mean Macros? Where can I find more details? I use addons that often block the functionality of the default world marker buttons until I /reloadui, and having alternate access to these would be stunningly useful.

Yes that should mean macros now. But we haven't been given details on what to use now I think. It'll take a few days for these to show up on the usual sites like wowpedia.

You'd think there'd be a page somewhere among all of Blizzard's stuff to pick that up, but ok.

Looking at the new Interface code, I found these slash commands:

SLASH_CLEAR_WORLD_MARKER1 = "/cwm";
SLASH_CLEAR_WORLD_MARKER2 = "/cwm";
SLASH_CLEAR_WORLD_MARKER3 = "/clearworldmarker";
SLASH_CLEAR_WORLD_MARKER4 = "/clearworldmarker";

SLASH_WORLD_MARKER1 = "/wm";
SLASH_WORLD_MARKER2 = "/wm";
SLASH_WORLD_MARKER3 = "/worldmarker";
SLASH_WORLD_MARKER4 = "/worldmarker";

SLASH_TARGET_MARKER1 = "/tm";
SLASH_TARGET_MARKER2 = "/tm";
SLASH_TARGET_MARKER3 = "/targetmarker";
SLASH_TARGET_MARKER4 = "/targetmarker";

So it looks like you can use:
  • /wm or /worldmarker followed by a number to place a world marker. I'm not entirely sure, but these may be the numbers corresponding to each marker:
    • 1 - Blue Square
    • 2 - Green Triangle
    • 3 - Purple Diamond
    • 4 - Red Cross
    • 5 - Yellow Star

  • /cwm or /clearworldmarker followed by a number to clear that marker or all to clear all markers

  • /tm or /targetmarker followed by a number from 1 to 8 to set that raid icon or 0 to clear any icon from the target. The numbers for this command can be found here:

    Not quite a deity, just a guy who knows stuff.

    Hopefully correctly, I've added notes on what you found to the two relevant Wowpedia pages:

    http://www.wowpedia.org/Raid_Beacon
    http://www.wowpedia.org/Raid_target_icons

    Thanks again, Choonster.

  • Thanks for posting this. I've been wondering what the new commands were. Too bad someone at Blizzard forgot to include the all-important information on how to actually do this when they initially mentioned it in the patch notes, lol.

    Speaking of markers, is there a way to target an object with a marker on it via script or macro? ie. party or raid leader uses square to mark a mob, and a mage (example) uses a macro to do something like /target square and then cast sheep ?

    Would this work to move a pet to a world marker?

    /petmoveto worldmarker1
