LFR loot exploit is so bad. Free Tier for all

There is certain double standards going on here, and most of us expected that Paragon wouldn't be banned. At least they are having their items removed, which is the absolute minimum blizzard can do to prove that they still somewhat care about exploitation of the system.

And yes, if it were started by even some of lesser renown, the guild would've been banned

Thing is, they would be banning over 500 members since ~20+ guilds top guilds have done this, that we know of. From my recollection paragon participated in doing so after the other guilds were, so they weren't left out. Even though the gear is 384 it would be a deal breaker in heroic progression since tank 4pc sets are basically required and the stats are even upgrades.

If you are getting loot off of a boss twice then it is an exploit. This has always been the case in World of Warcraft, and we expect players to know better.

That sounds encouraging with regard to possible sanctions against offenders. Especially since these specific offenders should know better than anyone.

We’re in the process of implementing a hotfix to fix the exploit, and are deciding what steps we'll be taking for the gear that was already obtained.

Love that they allowed the flaming demon to post this, just because all those people are about to get burned :)

Here comes the ban-hammer baby!

Can you comment on the notion that if everyone passes, the loot becomes "up for grabs" ?

your first statement is a little qustionable, because the case of running same raid twice never existed before...so in a sense we're dealing with a case that wasn't "always the case".

In defense of those guilds, it WAS a lose-lose situation for them.
They were probably thinking along these lines...
Either:

  • [A.] Blizz finds out about the gear thing but doesn't do anything because they already anticipated full 25m guild groups distributing gear in an advantageous way. Under this scenario not participating in the 384 gear thing while some other top guilds do would put them at a disadvantage for world firsts.

  • [B.] Blizz finds out about the gear thing and does consider it an exploit resulting in the gear being taken away (thus wasting the time you spent on it) and possibly handing out suspensions.

Either way, it's a lose-lose gamble.

I think the people saying they should be perma-banned are just being ridiculous though. Either they should:

  • [A.] Just get the gear taken away along with a short (3 hour to 72 hour) suspension and a warning of harsher penalties if they participate in "gray areas" in the future.
  • Or

  • [B.] Take away the gear and suspend them until Thursday of next week which gives guilds that didn't participate in the exploit a 2 day head start on heroics.

You plan on letting the Top Guilds get away with this just with a "Don't do it again?", seems like Blizzard plays favorites.

If it was any other guild that had less of a spotlight on them, not Paragon, vodka, Method, Blood Legion, so on and so forth. Ban Hammer for everyone.

1 week suspension should teach everyone involved not to exploit them game again. Just like you would do to any other normal guild that isn't Blizzards favorites.

Speaking personally, I'd recommend you take the gear away and ban the exploiters long enough that they'll miss out on the first week or two of heroic progression, if not longer.

It shouldn't be that hard of a decision strip the gear obtained this way and be done with it.

Morning Robokapp.

Only a "little questionable" though. It was quite clear what the rules were supposed to be. Blizzard has a right to be disappointed that so [many] of the top guilds took advantage of an obvious exploit instead of resisting the temptation and just reporting it.

They are their darling PvE progression heroes. Bans are for your average guilds and users. They won't dare ban or punish top guilds for more than a few hours, and the top guilds know it.

That's why exploits like this happen from the same guilds, every single time there is new progression content. It happens over and over and over because the guilds at the top know Blizzard is afraid to dole out the same punishment to them as they would to a "lesser" guild or players.

They can run an exploit that allows their guild to rack up over a year's worth of loot from LFR in a couple of days, and the worst possible thing Blizzard will do it remove their loot and slap them with an utterly meaningless 3-72hr ban.

This level of cheating happens because Blizzard is afraid to dole out the proper punishment for it. It's that simple.

So what if they ban 500 players. Its time they learn they are no better then the rest of us other then being good at the game. i said it before and i'll say it again if this was some no name guild they would have been banned. Blizz as usual fails.

lol @ bashiok.

8 hours behind the news cycle hmmm?

good idea deleting my 22 page post on the general discussion forums. you wouldn't want your paying subscriber base to know that you let top world guilds like DREAM Paragon, Method, Ensidia, For the Horde, Envy and Vodka - to name a few - get away with getting their entire 25m raids full 4/5 or 5/5 + off piece t13 sets 2 days after you released the patch, now would you?

i am amused at how terrible you are at this game...

so glad i sold my stock before the ship decided to hit the iceberg...

They aren't getting away with it and calling Bashiok and the devs terrible at this game? Seriously? Dude, stop being a troll.

Also, your thread was deleted for good reason.

I'm fairly certain that they don't wake developers and community managers up in the middle of the night to fix stuff like this. It's not quite like the 3:00 a.m. call to the president because the missiles are inbound.

As for the rest of your post, enjoy your vacation.
