Wow froze during:
Ultraxion victory video 1 of 4 of the Spine of Deathwing start videos Not sure what other info to provide, or if anyone else experienced the same lock ups. Also if anyone has a tip for closing wow when it's full screen and frozen (cmd-m didn't work) I'd appreciate it :). |

To bring up the Force Quit screen, it's Command+Option+ESC.
**Note: This is all one process. No need to test WoW after resetting the permissions. Reset the permissions on your WoW folder: 1. Select the World of Warcraft folder 2. Press Command + I 3. In the World of Warcraft Info box, go to the Sharing & Permissions section 4. Click on the lock and unlock it, entering your admin password when prompted. 5. Make sure you have Read & Write permissions 6. Click on the Burst icon (cog wheel) and select Apply to enclosed items Reset the temp files: 1. Navigate to /Applications/World of Warcraft/ 2. Delete the Cache folder. 3. Move Interface and WTF to the Desktop. 4. Run the Repair.app. 5. Launch WoW. 6. When it completes the "Applying non-critical updates", click Play and log in. |

command-option-escape is the universal force quit command for oS . has been for years.
As for video freezes, are you trying to let it play or mashing escape the moment screen goes black? the ONLY time i've crashed is when i've mashed escape and didn't let video load first. hitting escape AFTER i actually see a video image works. hitting escape while screen is black aborts loading the video but leaves you stuck in a black screen. that's what the bug is for me ________________________________________________ Mac Tech Support MVP Addon Author http://www.curseforge.com/profiles/mysticalos/ |

Thanks, didn't know about that short cut.
Lucytr, I've now done those steps and update this thread tomorrow after the raid, thanks. Omegai, I let the Ultraxion video run. The Spine intro video did freeze: watched once, froze when tried to skip 1/3 times, but I wasn't mashing it. Thanks |

what resolution do you play at? the PC version of wow was crashing only if you played the game at a resolution lower then the videos size (which is 1024)

Did the permissions and cache.
Did the 2nd half of Dragon Soul on lfr, got partway through Ultraxion video and wow froze Madness victory video was fine, and epic. While I understand your frustration Oni, imagine you're one of the nice people who help us and have to tell everyone to delete addons every time, and how frequently that is the problem. Empathy is not a bad word. |

I've been having this issue as well (the game randomly freezes at the start of cinematics - in quite an odd way too, it shuts off the sound from everything, even other apps, until it's been force quit).
To my surprise I found that I did have a third-party file in that Quicktime folder. I'll see if deleting that makes it behave any differently. For what it's worth, my resolution is 1920x1080. |
|
|
I am having this issue too. But it is random.
So far I've been encountering this issue half of the time. I also do have third party plugins installed. But I use them a lot, so I wish there was another way to resolve this... Hope Blizzard can fix this issue. Resolution is 1600x1000. |
|
|
I guess, I'll try increasing the resolution, cause my settings are at 1600x1000. Which I guess is lower than ****x1024. Thanks :) |

Are we still having this issue? I believe this should of been addressed in the most recent hotfix for these files. I know the PC side was having this and I've confirmed that this was fixed for it for the latest hotfix.

Just finished another lfr, no problems, but I haven't made any changes since ~22 hours ago when there were still problems.

K, maybe it was addressed then. Let me know if you do still run into problems.

I know the PC side was having this and I've confirmed that this was fixed for it for the latest hotfix. Yes, I've experienced the game locking up needing a force quit many times yesterday during boss kill to movie transition. Sometimes it plays properly sometimes, the game locks up. I haven't tested LFR out yet after I changed my settings to 1920x1200 today btw. If the game locks up next time, I could post the crash logs I've been sending in to Apple. |

I just had this freeze, on the Mac client (4.3.0 15050), at ~4:15PM PST 12/7/2011. The Spine video started, I saw footage, hit esc... boom, game froze. Force quit, deleted the AVI files (as recommended on the PC support forums) and was able to get back into LFR for the next fight.
Something that I noticed, though, was that as soon as I got back to town, I got the download radar icon. Tabbing over to Finder revealed that the AVI files were being redownloaded already. This was windowed, with the game set to 1920x1200 on a monitor of the same resolution, even though the window is shrunk a little bit smaller. |
