Superheroes You Just Don't Like
|
Topic title says it all. What are some of the superheroes that you just don't like, and why?
Mine has to be Batman. Now, don't get me wrong. He is entertaining, and a pretty powerful superhero. But he is also very incompetent too when it comes to dealing with some his Rogue's Gallery, and it's all because he refuses to take a life. That seems noble and altruistic, but when it comes right down to it, his inability to take the lives of some his more nefarious enemies has cost people their lives and their well-being. Like Barbara Gordon losing the ability to walk thanks to the Joker, Jim Gordon's fiancee KILLED by the Joker, Jason Todd (Robin #2) getting bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat BY THE JOKER (only to come back as the Red Hood later and is SUPER PISSED). Then there's all the other folks that aren't named that were killed by the Joker. And that's just him! What about Victor Zsasz, who's so cuckoo for cocoa puffs that he keeps a tally of all the people he's killed on his own body by cutting himself with a knife. And he's killed a LOT of people! Now, I can understand that to keep the comics going, you can't just kill off villains left and right because then there'd be nothing to go on. And I can understand Batman giving some of his foes a chance to "get better" after catching them once, twice, maybe even three times. But don't you think he's given some of these guys enough chances? Or maybe he's just keeping them alive to validate his own existence as Batman, which if that's the case, he's probably worse than all of them combined. Anyways, that's my two cents. How about you guys? |

Superman. He's sooooo overhyped. He can't fly. Really. Superman can't fly. Still drives me positively insane. He can jump really high because of the gravity difference, but Superman. Can. Not. Fly. Just thinking about it makes me want to bang my head off my desk a few times.

I've never been able to get myself to like Superman or Green Lantern. There's a point where a hero or villain gets so powerful that it just loses scope. I've had similar problems with Thor, but at least he has some real personal flaws he has to overcome.

Captain America and Superman.
Captain America because his super power is that he has a shield.... Superman because he's just boring, every story line around him involves either kryptonite or someone as powerful as he is. |

Have to say I didn't used to like Superman much. Now that they rebooted him I am enjoying Action Comics. He's a much more interesting character when you reduce his power level and take the stick out of his butt.

it would be easier to list the few i do like. and it boils down to: do they kill the bad guy?
if they do, i like them. if they get all emo and self-righteous and want to "do the right thing" then i hate them. |
|
What's with all the Superman hate...
I could never really get into a lot of the Marvel heroes, especially The Punisher and Ghost Rider. |
Because he's the posterboy for power creep. |
What are power creep. |

Spiderman. The guy just bugs me... <_<
Might have been the live-action movies too. I did not enjoyed them as much as I did with the X-Men film franchise. |

I hate all of them besides Spidey and Batman. Here's why.
Spidey is just awesome because he's not all emotionless, and not super famous, not some sort of big tough guy. He's just a normal college guy who was unlucky enough to get stuck with these powers. He's like anyone else. He has a social life. He has family, he has friends, he has a love interest. He has to span his life between being a normal dude and a super hero. And it's a heck of a lot harder and more convincing than the other heroes. Batman, I've liked since I was little. One thing I really like is that he doesn't actually have any super powers, and he has to rely on on his wits and home-made gadgets to survive and fight crime. Also, he's not so self-confident that he won't take a sidekick. He's honest enough to admit that he can't do it by himself, unlike a certain dude in red tights that apparently cannot fly according to Holymoo. Plus, I just like the guy's costume. Oh, and his lair, and Alfred, and the villains in his universe, and, and, and... there's too much to say. Everyone else, they're either too powerful, too noble, or too confident of themselves. I just don't like that. |

All of them. Superheroes give the illusion that there is such a thing as good guys and bad guys. In reality countries are brutal and just compete against each other for power. Of course that's a generalization but I think it holds true to the powerful imperial countries, like the country I live in the United States of America. Funnily enough, super heroes rarely have direct association with the government. Or at most they're grudgingly tolerated until the universe gets so saturated with them that it becomes a non-issue. Also: I believe the word you're looking for is hegemony (and no, wikipedia's immediate use of imperial does not mean it has more than a passing correlation to the 21st century definition). |

Probably Scott Summers/Cyclops. He's all wrong for Jean Grey/Phoenix. Sometimes when I watch the X-men movies, I wish he would just DIAF. Haha.

Superman, he's just too powerful and too ridiculous.

Any of the DC heroes. They're all too powerful and either born that way or have the money for it or just got lucky and are super powered. I love X-men and Spider-man/girl because of the fact that it brings a more human touch to who they are. They're everyday people with terrible problems at times made worse by their condition as a mutant which they can't really throw away.

Haven't liked Spider-Man since he sold his soul to the devil and can't even look at Iron-man anymore without seeing a !@#$ in a tin suit.
Didn't used to like Superman but they powered him down and gave him to Grant Morrison. Much more enjoyable character now. Not godlike powerful, Not a self-righteous prick, not invulnerable to all forms of harm. |

Green Lantern..

"Here is a Magic ring, it is literally the most powerful weapon in the universe, with it you can do anything you can imagine as long as your willpower is strong enough. Use it to maintain peace and order throughout the Universe" "I'ma gonna make Giant Green Boxing Gloves and Punch folks with em." |
