Righteous Fury for South Americans

I think the description for Spanish and Portuguese speakers is messed up for Righteous fury. Last 5 or so groups today had a pally from down south that had righteous fury as a ret pally.
They won't take it off, or don't know why they should.

That is an awfully large assumption to make.

And often times, in low level dungeons, I see paladins regardless of spec with Righteous Fury on. Generally speaking, these are newer players who don't know to read all the tooltips and tend to turn stuff on just because it turns on, and don't know to not have RF/Blood Presence/whatever on in dungeons yet.

Politely educate them, and move on past it. Wouldn't you rather help a newer player become a better player? Even if there's a language barrier, just link the ability in question into chat, and say "off". That's a pretty understandable thing regardless of where one is from.

At low lvl dungeons, before your spec really gives you much.. pretty much either pally spec (or all 3 warrior specs) can tank fairly well at lower lvl..
Many people will have it on while soloing.

All in all, i have seen english people doing the same thing.. in the end its a people learning/not learning what the spells do.

Maybe like the random number generator I just had some bad luck. When it's an English speaking group, the situation seems to get resolved after the initial telling. The reason why I said the Foreign description may be bad, because even after numerous attempts to educate them, it's not clear to them. So they keep it on. Next thing you know, i see a Kick vote on my screen, reason usually saying "idiot."

Just to add, after my first post the group was finally successful at getting a foreign Pally to take it off. The Tank was also South American.

language barriers make this game difficult to play sometime, which is why i think people from latin and oceanic realms (or basically any non english speaking realm) should only be able to queue for dungeons and bg's with each other and not with us.

And then they would have 8 hour queue times. That really wouldn't be fair to them.

Have you tested your hypothesis ?

IE Make a new pally on a new realm (say one of the new brazilian realms). Level it up to the level you get righteous fury at.

Then in the Launcher's game preferences set it to Latin American Spanish or Portuguese. After downloading the roughly 1 GB worth of language files log in. Log into pally and take screenshot of the tooltip.

Then take that tool tip to someone who can translate for you with the text of what it's meant to say in English.

Or you could always ask a bi-lingual brazilian player what the text of the tooltip translates as :P

They tried that, queue times were way to high. Also not sure where you are getting that oceanic realms are non English speaking realms, everyone I know from Australia and New Zealand speaks English.

Many players on Oceanic realms are (or used to be, dunno it if changed) from Singapore (especially) and other places.

Hard to educate them when you can't speak Portuguese. I know I have tried that and received back lines of Portuguese text. I have no clue what they tried to say to me.

I've only been grouped with a Portuguese-speaking group member twice that I remember, and only once with a pally. But an emote /wait, followed by a "[Rightous Fury] = No" followed by /point @pally and /pout was all that was needed. He turned his off and emoted /sorry back, and we were good to go.

Maybe something as simple as that would work for you?

That is basically what I tried and got back a paragraph of Portuguese.

There is nothing wrong with the portuguese translation of Righteous Fury - in Portuguese "Fúria Ativa".

Just keep in mind that many players from Brazilian Realms are new to World of Warcraft and, like all new players, they can make mistakes. I did some when I started this game, some hilarious, some stupid. I bet everyone here have a few of their own.

You could say something like "Furia Ativa esta ligada. Por favor, desabilite." (Righteous Fury is on. Please turn it off).

And if help anyone: Desculpe, eu nao falo portugues. (Sorry, I don't speak Portuguese)

PS: English is not my first language, so sorry for any mistakes.

No, your post was more correct and legible than a lot of posts from native English speakers in these forums. :)

Thanks Domitilla :P

You could even throw those into a macro. Don't remember the exact command syntax but should be fairly simple :P

There's always alt-tabbing to google translate however it's translation may sound a bit mangled.

I could say alot of things when a problem occurs, but unfortunately I do not know Portuguese and I do not want to spend my limited game time on Google Translate.

I am a math and sciences person, not a foriegn language person. I would never choose to spend time learning a foriegn language. I have travelled extensively all over the world and have never needed to learn a foriegn language as I always travel with my own translator and don't want to need to learn one for a game I play.

I have actually been tempted to start an account on the EU realms since I could be on a realm designated as English speaking.

Then macro those responses Ainsley ?

What are you saying here ? That you've never needed to use any other language other then English therefore you shouldn't have to ?

We're an international community of players here. Can't we all make some effort to get along :(

The reason you don't need to learn the language is because most countries speak two or three languages and English is one of them. We are the only country I know of that is this narrow minded about learning other languages. If you aren't willing to take the time to learn then you have no right to complain.
